    Hi,
I am being recruited to wrestle at KP. I make high B Grades and got a 31 on my act. I was wondering what my chances of getting in are. I can complete the physical aspect of applying but I was just wondering if my grades would be up to par.

Also, I have ADD and take medication for it. I was wondering if I have to stop taking it before I report. If so how long do I have to be off the meds?

    Thanks,
    Will

Check the dodmerb board for information on adhd meds and if it's waiverable.

All you can do at this point is try. Best of luck!

Truth is you sound competitive based on your ACT score - however "make high B grades" without the context of your curricula or your class rank isn't descriptive enough to say with any confidence either way. As the above reply indicates at this point, assuming you have interest in attending an SA - why not try? Also the wrestling coach as well as folks at admissions when/if you do a visit will be able to better answer the question as to your chances of getting in or telling you what you might need to work on to improve your chances with a lot more specificity that any of us here. All that said from what I know, your ACT score is good as far as I know and your grades sound reasonable, especially if they include some AP coursework, etc.

    Good Luck!

Yea my school is pretty hard. I'm taking almost all AP classes next year and I take a foreign language. I go to a private school and they don't have a class rank. I don't know why and it seems stupid but they just don't.

I think your biggest hurdle may be the use of ADD meds. Here is the common medical disqualifications from USMMA website.

    http://www.usmma.edu/admissions/application/medical-exam

Also, here is a link to the most current DODERB "rules" I could find with a quick google search.

    http://www.dtic.mil/whs/directives/corres/pdf/613003p.pdf

Specifically, the part dealing with ADD states that such a diagnosis is a disqualifying even unless:

    a. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) (314) UNLESS the following criteria

    are met:

    (1) The applicant has not required an Individualized Education Program or work accommodations since the age of 14.

    (2) There is no history of comorbid mental disorders.

    (3) The applicant has never taken more than a single daily dosage of medication or has not been prescribed medication for this condition for more than 24 cumulative months after the age of 14.

    (4) During periods off of medication after the age of 14, the applicant has been able to maintain at least a 2.0 grade point average without accommodations.

    (5) Documentation from the applicant’s prescribing provider that continued medication is not required for acceptable occupational or work performance.

    (6) Applicant is required to enter service and pass Service-specific training periods with no prescribed medication for ADHD.

I will let you take the research from there. PLEASE remember that these standards may have changed and the best place to get up to date information is DODMERB directly.
