Just found out our son received a princiapl nomination from our Congressman. Verfified he is 3Q, now is it just a waiting game for the appointment? Thank you to all the valuable information given on this site. We didn't even realized he had received the Principle Nomination until after reading threads on this site, went and reread the letter and it stated "principal"! It's been a long road...trying not to get too excited!

    Congrats!
I'm on the same boat, I received a principle also. :)
Quick question, how were you able to verify your son was 3Q?

Hmm. I called USNA and they told me they can't release that info. Was there a specific person/# you called?

3Q with a principal nom = appointment. USNA legally HAS to admit your DS. Congrats! :thumb:

    Principal Nom?

What is a Principal Nomination? My DS has a nomination from our Congressman to USNA. I assumed they were all the same. No?

Nominees may be submitted in three categories:

(the overwhelming majority use method 1)

    1. without ranking,
    2. with a principal candidate and nine ranked alternates, or
    3. with a principal candidate and nine unranked alternates.
When the Member specifies a principal candidate, that individual must be appointed as long as he or she meets all other admission criteria (3Q'd).

In circumstances where Members do not specify a principal candidate, the academy will choose one individual from among the Member’s 10 nominees who is found to be fully qualified.
