SOUND OFF! RA Mail Stalkers/DoD"NERDS"

Any News on When a Wave of Appointment Letters will come . . .

Hello everyone, I know that all of you are waiting for the same thing--an appointment! Any news on when these will start to be mailed?

another 10 times today. I too have noticed my son with a peaked interest with the USPS....

Do you think DoDMERB keeps track of number of log ins for each candidate.
If they do, I am sure they chuckle a bit when they see our log in info.

Helpful Info for Waiters

I everyone! Well I have some helpful information for all of us still waiting. My son spoke with his AAP yesterday because she said she would check on his file for us. She told him that (Luigi/Objee/Boss, please correct me if I don't quite get this right) the first board, which I believe is your child's AO and volunteer CGA parents, finished looking over all applicants a few days ago. She then told him that then his application will go to the next boards where they will further look, decide, and assign points accordingly. Once this is done, the applicant's information is put into a computer resulting in the top 200 or so to go onto the next stage which I think is the superintendent.

I could be way off here, but that is basically what she told him. Hang gang just a little bit longer. Best to all. -officer

Officer,

Thanks for the update! Son mentioned to me that it was said by someone at the Academy during the webinar, that a mailing would go out as late as April 15th! I had thought that we would all know something by April 15th, not still be waiting for word!

Sending good thoughts to all waiting!

I don't think there are any CGA parents on the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board.

I believe the CCEB is made up of approximately 45 CGA staff and faculty members only.

Okay, thank you Luigi. Is the rest of the information somewhat accurate that he was given? -officer

I know FairWinds, I just think admissions has had there socks blown off with all these qualified applicants. Realistically after hearing from my son's AAP, I'm thinking very late March-mid April just like the CG has said all along. But actually it could be even longer because we didn't hear about son being bumped to RA until Dec. 23rd.

Wow...sounds like we may need to start random drug testing on our Partners! The initial review process is actually very straightforward and the reevaluation process (for EA deferrals) is pretty simple too.

EA Review
File is assigned two CCEB reviewers...each reviewer independently recommends the applicant either be appointed or deferred to RA. All files recommended for appointment are forwarded to the Admissions Committee where 3-5 senior Admissions staff members (plus the Director of Admissions) either agree with the appointment recommendation or decide to defer to RA. This part of the process is most similar to the USNA video with the "voting blocks" and everyone around the table. The Superintendent usually tenders appointments according to the Admissions Committee results, but he can really do whatever he wants since the final authority rests with him.

RA Review
File is assigned two CCEB reviewers...each reviewer independently recommends the applicant either be appointed, waitlisted, or not accepted. All files recommended for appointment are forwarded to the Admissions Committee to follow the process outlined above. All applicants recommended for the waiting list will be notified of that status no later than April 15th; same notification timeline for those applicants not recommended for an appointment.

EA Deferral Review
File is reviewed by a senior Admissions staff member...reviewer decides to either send the file out for reevaluation by the CCEB (following the process outlined above) or recommends the applicant not be accepted; same notification timeline for these applicants as outlined above.

Waiting List Review
If slots in the class become available after May 1st due to late declines, conduct problems, academic failures, medical disqualifications/injuries, etc. then the Admissions Committee will review the waiting list and recommend additional appointments to the Superintendent.

Just a quick note to those of you counting on DoDMERB to tell you the good news. "Offer Extended" can also mean CGA Scholars. So wait for the official confirmation to know exactly what you are celebrating.

Our daughter got confirmation today that her appointment is for CGA Scholars. We are still just as thrilled and think this is going to be a great opportunity! :thumb:

Objee,

Do the RA Reviews come before the EA Deferral Reviews or do they happen at the same time?

We start RA reviews in mid-January and EA deferral reviews in mid-February, so eventually they're happening at the same time.

Thank you Objee; the information you gave is great. Maybe son's AAP was trying to simplify it for him without going into all the details. Regardless of the process, it seems that all files are handled with fairness and really looked at well. Hang in there and thanks for checking in on all of us. -officer

Imchatt,

Yes it is very quiet. I was looking at old post again yesterday and saw that they started coming out this very time last year. I'm leaning on my faith to get me through this. My son is the practical one and said to me yesterday, "Mom, is it going to help at all if I worry about this? Do I have any control over this right now?" He's the slow steady river and has been great through this whole process. This Mom could learn a lesson from her son, and I think I will do just that. So I intend to enjoy this beautiful Texas weather, work our back-up plans, and pray for God's will. It's almost over, and time flies when your having fun  (sarcasm intended) -officer

I was going through some papers and found my son's letter from the CGA offering him the appointment...it was dated March 21st. He got the big envelope on the 29th. So it's all coming up quickly.

My son has not stressed about any of this whole process from day one. He hasn't paced, watched the mailbox, hounded the dodmerb website, or the afrotc/arotc scholarship tracker sites. I on the other hand, have found myself almost compulsively checking several times a day. I may need therapy after this experience! Just kidding. However, I have definitely learned alot about the process and if we go through it with the younger son, I will have a much better grip on what to expect. I guess he has one senior year and an entire life ahead of him for responsibility and adulthood. I am glad he is enjoying his last year of childhood!

I think it is amazing that he is so calm...and that must say something about the Mama who raised him.

You are both very right about the fact that worrying about it won't change it and that your faith will get you through it. I've noticed that no matter how hard I try in life to make things happen the way I want them to...they always turn out the way they are supposed to.

Hang in there!! The answer is coming soon! Send some of that beautiful weather to TN!

bossf51, thanks for your post. I like that date...maybe it'll work for us too! I hope!

officer and Imchatt, it has been very, very quiet here. Maybe it's the "'calm" before the "storm" of "offers extended"!!!!

While we know things are out of our hands, at this point, we believe son presented the best application file that he was capable of...no regrets there. He has several back-up plans, so we'll just have to see how it all plays out. Hopefully, by this time next month, we'll know which school/state we'll be delivering him to and on which date!

To all those still waiting, hang in there...we're coming down the home stretch!
