I'm just looking at other options to being a pilot after graduation from USAFA, and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about being a fire control officer on an AC-130. I'm wondering what the requirements and training would be.

GUnship FCOs start off as Combat Systems Officers (basically, the old designation of "Navigator"). As such, you first step will be to go to Pensacola for Undergraduate CSO school (last about 10 months). From there, if you're lucky enough to track to AC-130 FSO, you'll move about 40 mile east to Hulburt Field to start you FCO training.

Requirements: This link pretty much sums it up.

Best of luck to you!
