Should incoming basics have received their sponsor families' information yet?
 
No. They should get it sometime during or after basic. Before doolie day out, whenever that is.
 
When should the Sponsor's find out--especially if they have requested a specific cadet? Also, is it possible to have 2 sponsor families? (We have at least 2 sets of family friends in the area and both were interested in sponsoring the DD.)

Your daughter will only have one official sponsor family. However, there is no reason the other cannot be "unofficial" sponsors.
 
If your basic cadet is an IC - looks like the sponsor gets notified even later because the basic cadet will spend doolie day out with their team/coach. At least that's what it looked like in the email we saw.
 
DS filled out his sponsor form and emailed it back to the academy. This is what the return email said. FYI

Appointee XXXXXX will receive his assignment letter 2 days prior to Doolie Day Out, 28 July. The Cadet Sponsor Office will not be mailing out sponsor information to cadets’ parents.



Since he is a recruited athlete, he will be spending Doolie Day Out with his teammates and coaches. Academic Year sponsor matching will occur shortly after Doolie Day Out and before Parents’ Weekend.
 
Can an appointee request a family? Or is it a thing where you have to arrange for the family to request you?
 
You can request and they will send them a application to fill out.

Where do we get the form to fill out for sponsors? I received my appointment a while ago and have not gotten much more information.

You'll get a packet sometime today or tomorrow. I got mine today and it has the cadet sponsor form to fill out and mail along with other forms you'll have to fill out.
