Spring Grass Roots

I am a candidate for 2016 and I recently received an email from the Liaison Officer Director in my area inviting me to a spring grass roots event on March 27th. I've heard of the grassroots event during Thanksgiving but I couldn't find any information other than what I got from the email (which is very little).

Could someone please tell me what this is for? It does say that this is an important step toward becoming an Air Force Academy Cadet though.

I would assume it's much like the one at Thanksgiving. USAFA is on Spring Break March 24-31 so it would make sense that a cadet who is home will be available at this function to speak with 2016 candidates and possibly those interested for 2017.
