On the Regimental Calendar I read that there is a Spring Training Voyage on the Kings Pointer during Spring Leave. It doesn't give any other information about this training. Is for the 2015 B Splitters who will begin sea duty this coming summer? DS isn't sure but thinks it might be, in which case that's what he will be doing over break this year.

Days on the Kings Pointer are most often used as make-up days for anyone who is short of the minimum sea days required for licensing.

That makes sense. He just thought there was some kind of training and thought it might be over Spring Break. We are really just trying to figure out if he will be able to come home over break or not. If not, we may try to go visit. Just looking for information so we can begin thinking about plans.

Break training trips on the Kings Pointer are optional for most, but offer a chance to make up sea projects, or sea days for those who are short. For plebes they offer a chance to get some early sea days and practical shipboard experience before reporting to their first ship, which can often be very helpful.

So are you saying that the Plebes will have an option to stay at school and go on the training trip instead of leaving KP for break? I'm just trying to put the pieces together as I've heard that parents should not count on Plebes/MN getting a spring break. I cannot seem to find any other information on what they might be doing during that time.

If they're active in spring sports (DS does cross country in the fall, indoor track in the winter, and outdoor track in the spring), they may stay at school.
