Hey!! Does anybody know when we find out our squadron?
Are some 'bad' or 'good'. I know a lot of people say that your life is determined by the leadership in your specific squadron. Any thoughts....

During basic you will be in one of five flights belonging to one of eight squadrons. These will correspond to your academic year squadron. So if you are in Aggressors Alpha Flight then you will be in academic squadron 1.

The BCT squadrons are: Aggressors, Barbarians, Cobras, Demons, Executioners, Flying Tigers, Guts, Hellcats.
Flights run from A to E of the phonetic alphabet.

Usually your report time is an indication of which squadron you will be in. If you know the earliest report time and the interval between each then you may be able to speculate on which squadron you will be in. As far as I know, report times are only separated by Basic Squadron assignments. So at best you'll be able to say that you are in one of five academic squadrons 1-5 (if Aggressor report time) or 36-40 (if Hellcats). Using this info you should know exactly which squadron you'll be in on the first day of BCT (because you will know you squadron and flight assignments)

1 BCT squadron contains 5 flights of roughly 30 basic cadets. Each flight corresponds to 1 of the 40 academic year squadrons.

Good luck and have fun.

I know the portal says that the Authorization to Travel will be available "in mid-June (after BCT Squadron Assignments are made)," so I would assume that you would find out your squadron then.

You will find out your squadron before getting there because it determines your report time.

If this holds true from last year:
Aggressors report at 0730
Barbarians at 0745 or 0800, etc. -- these are examples. Your email/letter will be much more specific

Soccermii, as far as 'good' and 'bad' squadrons go, it's very hard to tell as the people in it change. The seniors graduate, and new juniors and freshmen come into the squad. The permanent party (AOC and AMT) can change as well. The reputation of a squad is usually dependent on the people in it, therefore it is constantly changing. Take whatever squadron you are placed into with an open mind and form your own opinion on it.
