As I understand, the "first day of issue" ceremony is at KP.

Yes it is: tomorrow at 11:30 AM at Ackerman on campus. Open to the public. All are welcome. I think more details may be on the USMMAAF website.

Excellent. Glad to see this, and glad the First day ceremony will be at Kings Point. This is not the first US stamp dedicated to the US Merchant Marine. I have a framed 1st Day of Issue Cover on my wall from the 40's honoring the Merchant Marine. Cover even has a drawing of Kings Point as it appeared in the 40's. My only "problem" is that the post office has never issued a stamp honoring United States Merchant Marine Academy. I believe it is the only Academy to have never been honored with a stamp issue. I tried to take up this cause a few years ago, but got no where with any support for the project. Is it time to press forward once again?

Wish I could be there for the ceremony.
