Has anyone heard about STEM acceptance? Hoping for good news soon!
No news yet. Are you a rising 10th grader?
No news yet for us either..
There's another thread where a few people have already received acceptances. My son applied for first session, and we're losing hope. (Plus I'm watching airfare prices rise, which isn't helping the odds of him going even if he is accepted.) In hindsight, we've come up with ways we could have made his application stronger. It was hard filling it out for a rising 9th grader, as so much of what was on there wasn't applicable to Jr. High.
No news here yet, also. My daughter is a rising 10th grader. She is waiting patiently, but I am trying to prepare her for a rejection. She is a little more of a "glass half full" type than I am.
My daughter is a rising 11th grader and has not heard anything yet. We are assuming she has been rejected based on past experience. As a rising 9th grader, she was accepted and her acceptance email came earlier in April. Last year, as a rising 10th grader, she was rejected and the rejection email came around April 29th. So, we are going with the assumption that the later it gets, the less then chances. We are trying to remind her that it is not because she isn't qualified, because by academic standards, she certainly is! And she is more qualified now than she was as an incoming 9th grader. So much does have to do with geographical representation, plus giving others a chance to go who have never been ( although that theory is hard to swallow when so many are acceptances are repeat attendees.) At any rate, good luck to all!
No news here either but still holding out hope. Our friend that lives down the street hasn't heard either. My oldest son worked in admissions and he said sometimes they get really busy and they don't go out right away.. Hang in there everyone!!!
No news here either for rising 11th grader. On the Naval Academy Facebook page, someone asked on April 13 if any notices had gone out yet, and admissions replied:
A few have, however the majority will go out in the next two weeks.
April 16 at 7:30am
So that sort of makes sense, since so many of us haven't heard anything. Good luck to all of you!
Sorry, that's the Naval Academy Admissions Facebook page.
My son applied to STEM two years in a row and did not get in. The good news is that the information is entered into a database and he was invited to attend a Candidate Visitation Weekend last fall (2014) as a junior in high school. He went and had a fabulous time! So even if they don't get into STEM, good things may be coming!
She got her acceptance today!! Session 1...Good luck everyone!
Congrats!! Same session as my son. Good luck to all! I hope see more added to the list!
Congrats how exciting and I hope to see more as well!!!
That's a very comforting piece of advice. I keep telling my DS that when one door closes, another one opens, and it might just be CVW! Still waiting for STEM, though...
Also I think the percentage of kids that go to Summer Seminar that have been accepted is like 60% which means 40% didn't attend. It took my best friends son 3 times to get into Stem and this year he received his appointment..Don't give up they like to see perseverance!!! Beat Army!!!
My son applied for session 2 on Jan. 5th. This is the first time we have applied. Is it unlikely that he was accepted since we have not received a notification by now?
Still nothing here either. At least if my daughter gets a rejection, she went her freshman year so she had the chance to experience it once. Assuming the worst but hoping for the best at this point...
When she went last year, had you already been notified by now?
She went two summers ago. She got her acceptance email the first week of April. Last summer she was rejected and got the email on, ironically, April 28th. So if history repeats itself, we should be seeing a rejection email anyday. Fortunately, it still has sparked a desire to actually attend the USNA for college and is beginning the lengthy process of getting a nomination and hopefully an appointment.
DD is still waiting here, too. Maybe a flurry of notifications will start going out to everyone very soon. Good luck to all!
