Still in the Game

My DS also got the portal update with the TWE. Heartbroken for him but I know God has a better plan. My brother in law graduated from West Point in the 80's and went to a year of college at OSU before he went. He said it was the best thing he could have done and was that much more mature and less stressed when he got there. Hoping that will be the same case for my son. Just not sure if I want to go through this again next year but will definitely support him if that's what he chooses. Good luck to all those still in the running!

As a reapplicant who got a 3.8 college GPA with 18 credits at a big 10 univeristy and did Ranger Challenge in my Senior ROTC unit with ACT Scores above the mean I have to say that seeing the TWE has demolished my confidence in having an Army career

DD got QNS letter in her portal (TWE).....disappointed (no pun intended). :coo2l: She says she'll reapply just like her brother did.

So would that mean those who still have not heard anything, are on some type of waitlist?

@MSamit - don't be discouraged. You are most likely a very qualified applicant but the reality is that there are simply more qualified applicants than there are openings. And some parts of the country are much more competitive than others. While applicants must do all they can to be qualified, entrance into WP is still somewhat a roll of the dice.

Continue with ROTC. I'm sure that you will make an excellent army officer.

Actually, my ds's appointment letter gives him till May 1.
I am a little confused because the website says April 15th. However, that could be for the first wave sent out. Is he is a second round appointee?

He got his in February. I actually double checked his appointment letter because I saw something here on the forum about April 15.

4 SA appointments. Wow! Truly remarkable. So which one is it going to be?

He was very, very fortunate to get 3, @Sledge, none for USNA that we know of (we are away on spring break, had not heard when we left, but we are assuming that is a no). USNA was his first choice till he visited USCGA and learned more about their mission; he is very interested in homeland security and feels USCGA may be the best fit for him. He is going to make his final decision soon so some other deserving candidates can get their appointments.

@MSamit, I'm curious: did you get your first semester schedule approved by your RC or check w/ your RC before proceeding? I looked back at your old posts, and while you did take 18 hours, you don't have a composition class. When my DS was struggling w/ his schedule (couldn't fit in the calc 1 class because of ROTC PT, but ultimately was excused from PT so he could take the 7 a.m. calc), his RC said that composition and a math or science was imperative. Your schedule had you in pre calc and no composition. While I am not an admissions director, I wonder if your schedule, because it did not mirror a plebe schedule, is what might have been the deciding factor. A quick email to your RC can give you the info as to the "why," but nonetheless, it doesn't soften the sting.

To those who have TWEs and are going to reapply: Your RC is there to help you! Contact him/her and discuss your freshman schedule (but let them get through this admission cycle).

Yes I emailed my RC my exact schedule and he approved it. He said my schedule was fine I just need to focus on getting As and Bs. I have a Calc and composition class this semester and West Point saw I registered for them.

Then you area must be extremely competitive and I cannot imagine the "water walkers" they must be sending. Again, I am sorry it didn't work out for you.

Just checked the portal; still no change here for my dd. Just wanted to give a shout out......
