I've been watching all of the TWE updates roll in for candidates and their parents on the forums and it really does make my heart wrench. I guess I am one of the lucky ones who is still on the island, for now.
For reference, I am a reapplicant, 54th in my class in college (top 4%) in an engineering track with accelerated math/chem courses, 800 RDNG and 690 MATH SAT. Army ROTC, football player, pretty much anything I could have done to increase my chances I did! I received recommendations from two naval officers, an army major, and my BGO (navy captain, O6) ranked me as his best candidate ever in his 40 years as a BGO for the USNA... I am hoping for good things. My dad is also a grad, class of 1985.
Unfortunately I did not receive a congressional nom. (home district is PA04). I think the fact that I had a presidential may have threw them off, but I can't be sure. Disappointing, but didn't let it get me down.
At this point, are my chances slim? I have not received a TWE but I have also not received any other word. I was informed I am fully qualified. I have heard that if the "academy wants you, they'll shuffle things around to get you" as long as you have a nom of course. I also did fill out a VP nom, just in case. There is a strong chance I will be heading off to Army Basic Airborne Course at the end of May through my unit, so if there is any chance that I get waitlisted, I may be there until mid-June.
Any one want to weigh in?
P.S:
Why Army? NROTC didn't work out last year, either
