I received a Principal Nomination from Senator Sheldon Whitehouse in RI..Application has been done for a while, but I have not heard anything from the Naval Academy...I am a college reapplicant, and just wondering when I should hear by? I know other college applicants who have heard. To my knowledge, I wasn't DQ'd for anything..

It may depend on when your first semester grades were received. Typically, for college students, USNA wants to see those grades before making a determination of scholastic qualification. So, for example, you could have been a terrific h.s. student with terrific board scores and great sports and leadership BUT if you get Cs and Ds in college courses, USNA may not find you quaified.

If your grades have been in to USNA for more than a month, I'd follow up with your RD. If not, give it a bit more time.

I have had my application in for about 4 months now. Also, i have had my 7th semester transcripts in for two. Should I contact my RD soon if I do not hear?

I'm not sure what you mean by "7th semester." If you're a first-year college student, USNA wants the grades from your first semester in college (usually August through Dec.). I would be surprised if those grades have been into USNA as an official transcript for 2 months given that, for most, exams occur in mid-to-late Dec. Then profs have to grade the exams and submit the grades. Once that is done for ALL your courses, the school has to submit the transcript to USNA.

That timeline often runs until mid-to-late January. Obviously, some schools may move more quickly or have exams earlier, etc.

Also, the nom from your Senator wasn't due to USNA until Jan. 31. Just b/c he notified you prior to that date doesn't mean he submitted his slate to USNA prior to Jan. 31. Once USNA gets the slate, it has to get all the paperwork in order, so to speak. That can take 2-3 weeks.

I would check the CIS portal to find out when the transcript was sent to USNA. If you don't have the info, your BGO should. If that transcript represents your final grades from the fall semester AND has been in for 2 months, AND you are qualified medically (no outstanding remedials/no waiver needed) and with CFA, and you don't hear for another full week, than, yes, I would contact your RD.

If any of the above hasn't occurred, one of those things is probably what's holding things up.

I am currently an HS student and I was talking about my fall senior transcripts. I will wait another full week. Thank you.

My first semester transcript was received late.. 29 January due to a problem on my University's end.. Lowest grade was a B-.. Was qualified medically by the DoDMERB, and did fairly well on the CFA.

Sorry, I'm getting the posters mixed up here.

For the college applicant who is the principal nominee, you need to give USNA some time to process the paperwork, so to speak. Admissions has spent the past week moving offices so probably not a lot got done. Add to that the (likely) many MOC slates that arrived at the end of January and they have a lot to do. I wouldn't expect anything before the end of the month.

For the h.s. poster, it depends on whether you're a principal nominee. If you are, it depends on when the MOC slate was submitted. If not until the end of January, you too could be waiting a bit. If you were not the principal nominee, you are probably looking at March to hear -- but that's only a guess.
