Still waiting?

Bendaddy.. I also applied and was accepted to the Daytona Beach campus, and was offered an $11,000 per year scholarship. I am leaning more towards VT at the moment but, as I have yet to visit either campus, I can not really say. Both have outstanding AFROTC detachments...

I believe I was also offered the $11,000 scholarship. We're pretty lucky considering the near-$60,000 price tag, but like you said, both VT and Embry-Riddle are outstanding universities. Best of luck to you.

Also recieved the TWE here today. Dissapointing, but it serves as motivation for next year!

:frown: Just curious... Are these TWEs "Qualified, No Vacancy" letters? Or are they just straight denials?

TWE

Mine says...

"We regret to inform you that we are not able to offer you an appointment to the Air Force Academy this year. Your excellent record qualifies you for admission, but we are limited in size by public law and cannot appoint everyone who is qualified..."

"While the selection process is essentially complete, we will notify you immediately if you are chosen to fill a vacancy because another candidate declined an appointment..."

TWE here too

The TWE parade must be underway. Plan B - ROTC at University of Illinois. Disappointed but life goes on.........

TWE

Same here, exact same wording.

Plan B, Texas A&M Aerospace Engineering here he goes...

TWE here as well

Same letter for DS today.

Good luck to all and future plans!

TWE

TWE (waitlisted) here as well. :frown: Plan B is Embry-Riddle with a Type 2 scholarship and a small ERAU Scholarship. Plan C is a full-ride to Norwich.

Best of luck to everyone.

guardianvg, did the letter actually say something about a waitlist??

ONline Status Change

We are still waiting but hope is dimming. Just wondering those of you who have received denial letters has your online status changed if so what does it now say.

Maybe I just assumed the second paragraph meant you were on a waitlist. Can anyone else clarify? Thanks!

Got the TWE yesturday. Same wording as above. However, I didn't get the whole 1,285 admitted. Doesn't the Academy normally offer 1,700 appointment and around 350-450 turn them down and they nab as many from the waiting list as they need to fill the class. Has everyone already turned them down and accepted their appointments?
Also, Big Red I am visiting VT tomorrow. I plan on going to speak to the Detachment Commander while I am there. I will pm my impressions when I get back. However, from what I have heard they run it a little different there than normal rotc detachment. Instead of it being a commitment you have a few nights a week and on an occassional saturday. It is like being at a service academy while at a public university. While at first glance this seems great, I am told it's not. Their drop out rate is a lot higher because of this difference. At the Academy you know that you are not alone. Everyone there is either going through or has been through what you are going through. So, you grow unshakable bonds with these men and women. If you are doubting why you are there they remind you and you remind them. No one get left behind. At VT you don't have to look very far to see people having fun, doing dumb stuff that you wish you could do, etc. So, it allows more time for the thoughts, why the heck am I doing this, to creep into your head and if having a bad couple of day, your motivations are not that strong, you are likely to drop out of the program. Your brothers will remind you why you are there and those not in rotc will remind you of the fun you are missing out on. I heard this from people who are/were in and some who have dropped out. We shall see!!

Prep School

I've heard lots of opinions on this but I wonder what the likelyhood of getting a Prep School or Falcon slot for those not selected. If its a possibility when would one expect to hear that news?
