This story made my blood boil on a number of fronts. So much deception. Thinking about what it takes to document a claim and submit medical records to the VA, he must have been very skilled at forgery. And to set himself up as a motivational speaker! Ack.

The parallel story about the grievously wounded Marine, and his subsequent suicide, well, that just broke my heart.

Any Marine vets in prison with this scammer will not be kind to him...

Huh. Yeah...hard to imagine someone spending years claiming to be a wounded Marine to anyone who would listen, only to have it all turn out to be a huge lie.

I can't think if I've heard ANYTHING like that before...

Makes me wonder who he's pretending to be these days.

"He also received monthly disability checks from the Department of Veterans Affairs for about nine years, officials said. Blackstone did so by forging two witness statements from Marines who he falsely claimed witnessed his war injury, federal court records show."

"In late 2006, he was examined at the Dallas VA Medical Center. He told the doctor he received “multiple lacerations and physical injuries” from the explosion, according to court records."

Does the VA hand out checks based on "eyewitness" reports and self diagnosis?

What kind of due diligence does the Military Warrior Support Foundation perform before giving away a house? I don't doubt their motivations at all. I simply hope they vetted the recipients of the other 741 houses.

I never tire of reading stories of people like Casey Owens.

I am never surprised by the likes of Brandon Blackstone.
