I see that scheduled study time is from 7:30 to 11:00 (12?) at the Academy. Does anyone know what that's like? (For example, does someone come around to make sure you're studying, do your doors have to be open, is it dead silent, etc.)

You'll WANT to study during that time. In my day, most people had their doors open, although it wasn't required. Some went to the library. Not sure how it's enforced today but I'm sure it is. In particular, upper class aren't allowed to harass plebes during that time.

If you choose not to study, you do so at your own peril.

Judging from what my now 3C communicated at the beginning of the fall semester of Plebe Year, you are bombarded with assignments OTHER than homework, papers and the like so that you have to learn to juggle priorities very well. Don't be alarmed - it's all part of the process. The library is a study sanctuary, but you can leave your door open if you elect to study in your room - in fact, I think that Plebes are required to have their doors open until lights out. Also, there will be some late nights leading up to 6 week exams, so keep in mind that the 2300 lights out for Plebes is what is on the website, not necessarily reality.
