I think I read that you can turn in your application in December. Does the information on this get posted the day you can send in you application?
Im just wondering about the timeline.

the portal for SLS opened on December 15th. I finished my application on December 15th and got my acceptance a couple days after Christmas (even though it was postmarked before--holiday mail delay). the application basically requires you to fill out the pre-candidate questionnaire (test scores, extra curriculars, personal info). you don't have to have taken the SAT's. i submitted my app with just PSAT scores and got accepted. SLS was a blast!

Apply as early as possible; it is rolling acceptance. I was accepted within a week of submitting the online application for SLS. I declined to attend since USNA and USAFA also accepted me to their summer seminars.

I applied at a bit after midnight February 1st. My acceptance letter was dated February 2nd. I found it a bit odd how quickly my application was processed and reviewed.

I took the SAT and the PSAT in October of my junior year, so I was able to put both scores on the application. You may not be ready for the SAT, but at the very least study hard for the PSAT and crush it beneath your feet. Your high school guidance office or library should have plenty of practice tests and study guides.

Yes, I also applied at about the same time as you, nuensis - in the end of January. Sent my application on Friday, got an e-mail on Monday from my Regional Commander asking me to clarify my history (what am I doing in Brazil and whatnot). He said I had been offered a slot in SLS. The letter got home about a week or 2 later.

I applied on the first day- and the first hour, actually - that the portal was made available. I heard back from them on the 24th of December with an acceptance letter.

Hmm... I think that was a big coincidence, 1017225. If there's something I asked some 4 or 5 cadets was how the squads and platoons were separated in SLS. Most said it was probably random. On the mock R-Day, I left to cadets discussing between themselves how were the squads chosen while I went with the rest of my formation to learn how to march and do some stupid mistakes haha!

    For the 2011 SLS, no.

Also, note: 2012 SLS application will be available in mid- to late-January instead of December of the previous year.

I was going to add that as well. Our RC has only told us January, but it will be later than previous years.
