Summer Seminar Acceptance

maybe I'm no good at searching the site, but can anyone please direct me to anything with the time that Day I begins and what times things are dismissed on the final day( for flight purchase planning)

I have not seen anything for this year yet because I have not yet chosen the date but I have reviewed last year's info. I assume it will be similar for 2011.

Scroll down to pg 2 and it has times for arrival and departures based on whether you will be driving or flying.

My daughter went to summer seminar last year. She chose Session 1. We live in Georgia, and she found out she was accepted towards the end of February. She had a great experience...and as a mom, I'm thrilled that they posted this video on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EdkjTWOkjM

There were roughly 300 students per session...3 sessions

I was unfortunately denied acceptance to West Point SLS this year :(. I really hope I can enter AFA SS.

I'm in California and my status changed from submitted to under consideration yesterday. The waiting intensifies..

No, I am application submitted. "Your application has not yet been processed..."

Haha nice dude. I guess I really shouldn't be asking this but I wonder why is it I got accepted into West Point SLS 3 days after I submitted my application yet it has been almost 5 weeks since my status has even changed? Maybe they're trying to see how patient we are. It is a virtue after all. :p

Each academy does things a little differently. WP does a rolling admissions thing for SLS and it seems to me that USAFA has waves of acceptances. Last year I was notified by WP about a week after I applied. For USAFA I didn't hear anything until like mid February. Then I heard from USNA pretty late.....like...April?

Is it normal for the summer seminar application to say "being under consideration"? I applied in mid December 2010 and I still haven't heard anything back.

Also, are the acceptances sent out via email, snail mail, or just posted on the application?

Does anyone know the turn around time for the NASS applications? I have already been accepted to SLS and I need to respond to that by March 1st, which could be before NASS results are mailed. My parents say I can only go to one but USNA is my dream. Should I just forget about SLS and USMA until I get the results? Or is there a way of cancelling after you have already said yes to SLS just in case I get into NASS?

The offers come via email to whatever address you have listed on the application. I'm told that they occur in waves - early Jan, then early Feb, then the final wave. Don't give up hope. My son applied mid Dec and got an offer a couple of weeks ago but since that wave I've not seen anymore posted by applicants. There were still over 500 slots to different sessions available as of a couple of weeks ago.

Good Luck!

Hello - we are very new to this so would appreciate any advice. Our son applied to the USAFA summer seminar on Dec. 1 when the application became available. His app still shows "your application is still under consideration."

He has had no contact with the local liason officer -- should he e-mail her? He doesn't want to be a pest but clearly wants to reach out to her if he is expected to do so.

Thank you

craeder: My daughter applied last year on December 1st....she was notified in mid to late February that she was accepted. I know it's hard waiting....

It is hard to wait - he just wants to make sure he is doing everything he needs to do. Did your daughter have any interaction with her ALO during the application process?

I had a couple of email exchanges with Alex's ALO beginning last summer and got some advice on his resume. The ALO I was dealing with was very helpful. All of them are extra busy right now due to the selection of this year's class. You might shoot an email introducing yourself and they will get back to you as soon as they can.

Remember, they do this pretty much by hand at the Academy and physically look at everyone's packages before making offers. They also do not fill all the slots until after the deadline for application which is almost a month from now. I wouldn't give up hope.

Best Regards and Good Luck.

I sent in my application for the SS in mid January and my status was changed to offered within 3 hours. I am still confused as to how this happened, if anyone could shed some light on the issue.

I also have not received a follow up email.
