Summer Seminar...Anyone hear anything yet? What was the timing last year?

Just wondering if anyone has news yet about Summer Seminar. Or if anyone remembers when the invites went out last year. Application closes on January 31, so how long until my DD can expect to hear something?
 
Last year, none of us heard until February 15. However, according to the admissions website, it will be a bit later this year:
Our online Summer Seminar application opens on December 1 and closes on January 31 each year. We do not make rolling selections. Selection for this program will be after the close of the application period with notification via e-mail to all students of either Selected or Non-Selected by March 6th.
This was the same message as last year, except last year, it was February 15th. When they say they do not make rolling selections and that you'll hear by March 6th, if it's anything like last year, you will wake up on the morning of March 6th with a message of either selected or non-selected in the portal. That's how it was last year. No one heard anything until the 15th. Best of luck to you DD. I know the waiting isn't fun (just wait til next year when she applies, though-it's even worse!), but hopefully there is good news at the end of the wait!
 
Haha, yes probably a good idea! Although, I did the same last year while I was waiting to hear about SS, and I'm doing the same thing now while I wait to hear about my application. But in the end, it didn't change anything. If anything it made the wait seem longer! Best of luck!
 
Their admissions office posted this today: "Summer Seminar Notifications to all students will be available on March 6, 2015."
 
If I remember correctly, my friend and I both found out our statuses some time in February! She was accepted and I was, unfortunately, declined.
 
I was waitlisted on the 14th of February last year, and finally got offered a spot on the 27th of March.

So if you're waitlisted, it might take a while.
 
Applied January 20 last year, got acceptance email on Feb 11.
 
Huh. I didn't know anyone heard before the 15th. In any case, it was rare to hear back before then, as you're the first person I've heard from that got accepted that early.
 
I actually heard on February 14th; however, mine was a "thanks, but no thanks." (AFA broke up with me on Valentine's Day, LOL! :yllol:) Based on my understanding, >90-95% of notifications will go out ON 3/6.

Does anyone know if submitting an application near the deadline lowers your chances? I submitted on 1/30 so idk if that makes it less likely for me to be accepted.
 
No, they'll wait to decide on all of the competitive applications until after the deadline. No worries!
