Summer Seminar Participants

I'm new on here and glad to meet others going to SLS! I am attending the last AFA session and probably the early session at USMA. I'm not sure how to add myself to the list that was started?

Congrats Jezzie! It's starting to seem like 3rd session is taking a commanding lead here :). The wait for June 15th is driving me insane, only 157 days! lol

Hi! I'm going to session 3...

does anybody know where i can get cheap airplane tickets? My parents refuse to support me in this endeavor of mine...so I have to pay out of my own pocket...so any little info on cheap airplane tickets is great...o...and i'm flying from LAX (los angeles) :)
 
Try Yahoo Travel, and click on "Cheap Tickets". I hope your parents come around!!!

Congrats! I'm not sure about everyone else, but I'm thrilled at the number of people on here going to the SS. I can't wait :)
 
Haven't checked on youtube yet, but have any of you seen last year's video for SS?
 
We just did a bunch of searches a couple weeks ago and watched tons of them from all 3 academies. I got exhausted just watching them, and really tried to convince my son that he probably wouldn't want to do (or even survive) all 3 summer seminars. But watching the videos had the opposite effect on him. It really seemed to psych him up and now he really wants to do them all and considers that it'll be a good challenge for him to see if this is what he really wants to do!

When I applied last year I watched a bunch of USAFA SS videos, and it got me sooooo excited.
 
What to do?

My son applied to summer seminar on December 2nd, but his application is "still under consideration". He visited USAFA last summer (met w/admissions counselor), and did a student visit in November. He has met the local liaison as well. He got a telephone interview from the liaison back in December who told him he had a 50/50 shot to getting in and told him what to do in the meantime. He got a letter the other day from Admissions, but it was telling him that he could apply to the academy starting this Spring and to call with any questions. Nothing about summer seminar.

I suggested that he make a phone call to the admissions counselor or simply send an email to his liaison. He says that that does not help at all. What are your suggestions? He has wanted to attend USAFA for several years now. (He also decided recently to apply to CGA to possibly play a sport, and as a backup in case he did not get into USAFA. He has finished the online AIM app to CGA and is currently completing the outside packet as well.)

Is it better to sit back and wait, or call people to make inquiries??
 
Isn't there an online status site for summer seminar? I would guess that if the letter from the academy didn't mention summer seminar, then it was just the usual "don't forget about us" colleges send students who've shown interest. I wouldn't worry yet, but talking to your ALO again wouldn't hurt. :cool:
