I read someplace that AROTC cadets may opt to attend Airborne, Air Assault or other AD schools over the summer with PMS recommendation. Would this option be available after freshmen year and how hard is it to get one of these slots?

typically this is something that sophomores get to do, but depending on how many slots are allocated to your Battalion, how your Battalion allows the cadets to compete for those slots, and how many cadets want to go it's possible for a freshmen to go. We are sending a freshman to Airborne school this summer. Sending him required us doing an exception to policy request.

They're harder slots to get, but there are sometimes sapper and scuba spots available...
