Sure is quiet

I learned mid-March last year--most appointments came out after the halfway point, I believe. Relax! (Hard, I know.) It'll come!

On Twitter:

All offers should be sent out by the first week of April.

Unless you're in a weird situation, like I was. I was a pretty good candidate (at least I like to think so) - 1560 out of 1600 SAT, Good CFA, Extracurriculars, yada yada. But I only had one possible nominating source (the Vice-President), and so I didn't get appointed until April 26th. So to those of you still waiting, hang in there!

Does anyone know what someones chances are once they are a qualified candidate?

Of the roughly 2.300 qualified candidates last year, approximately 1,500 were offered appointments, so roughly 65%

For all you anxiously waiting potential cadets, all I can say is TICK, TOCK, TICK, TOCK!! This is probably the slowest time will go for you!! Good Luck, because once you receive those packets, the next few months will fly by!! Enjoy your last few months of your senior year. My son is a C3C and loves the Academy, but wishes high school didn't fly by as fast as it did. Hopefully we will see you in Colorado Springs for Parents Weekend!!!:thumb:

I think one of the things that makes this a tad bit more frustrating than the "traditional colleges" is most of the "traditional colleges" have a set notification date, whereas the USAFA has "floating notification." This leaves applicants waiting to hear from day to day, and has them wondering what is so special about those who heard earlier versus themselves.

I also wonder if perhaps we were just as impatient, but we didn't have forums like this to share with. Because of the limited technology, we might have been more accepting of the lack/slow notification process (1984 high school graduate). Perhaps, it's the ability to share ones thoughts, concerns, ideas, feelings so much easier now that makes it seem as if people are more impatient.

This also seems to be the generation of immediate gratification, especially with technology.

According to FB AF Admissions "Regular Selections have been made and are waiting on approval. We know, it's a long process and the suspense is killing us too. That said, most letters should be sent out by the first week of April. Hope this helps and Good Luck!"

What kind of approval does an admissions selection require and from whom? An earlier post said that the admissions committee meets on Mondays...so hopefully the faucet should open up today.

According to facebook:

US Air Force Academy (Admissions):

There are a lot of different people in the process, but at the end of the process there is a board that includes the USAFA Superintendent, the Commandant, the Athletic Director, the Dean, the Director of Admissions and others who have to approve every candidate.

I'm sure it's no indication of the actual appointment process, but I peeked at the other forums and saw higher responses from those that have been appointed so far (69 for Naval and 85 for W Point). Perhaps a vast majority of hopefuls are not on these forums. But I found the numbers interesting especially since our USAFA appointee thread is substantially smaller in comparison. #thinkingoutloud

Look back at previous years. This year is no different than the past few years. USAFA is consistently slowest to issue appointments. Hang in there. The appointments are coming . . . .

Just know that tomorrow you'll have an answer. It'd be nice to get a call, but I don't think you should count on it.

ALO tells me the same thing. It's agonizing, but the potential reward is worth the wait.

I GOT IN! There is something about the 20th of March. Well worth the wait! Good luck to everyone else! Can't wait to see you guys at basic!!!!
