Hi, I'm a current AFROTC cadet who is non-contract. I failed DODMERB my first time around, but was told I can retake it this summer and if I pass, I will receive an AFROTC scholarship. I haven't had any medical issues since last time and I'm in good health, so I see no reason why I shouldn't pass. HOWEVER, if for some reason I fail out of left field, I would like a backup plan. Would it be possible to transfer to the Army or Navy ROTC branches at my school and attempt to commission in those services? Yes, I understand that I would need to pass DODMERB for those as well, but the Air Force is notoriously finicky when it comes to granting waivers, and I might have a chance of getting one from another branch. Again, this is all extremely unlikely, but I want to have a backup plan in place.

For AROTC it would be best to talk directly to the Battalion Recruiting Officer (ROO), they will be able to give you the best advice and let you know if they have slots available.
