My Son is picking his ship as he is going SWO on Jan. 30. Does anybody know if there is a webcast of the ceremony ?? and or link ?? I know I watched one in 2011 via simucast I think

I had read somewhere that they stopped doing the "walk the stage" ceremony. Nothing definitive. Anyone else?

We watched last year but I'm not sure where we got the link. We had great fun trying to guess what would get picked first.

As I recall, the Alumni Association had a video of the ship selection proceedings. Check <www.usna.com> for videos of some significant Yard events.

Ship selection night is upon us. Tomorrow...Thursday, Jan 30th, 6:30pm.
If you want to watch the selections - or if your parents and loved ones
want to watch the selections - please share/use the links below.

The links to the ship selection coverage will not be operational until
about 6:00pm tomorrow, but rest assured...the coverage will be great.
Every pick - EVERY SINGLE ONE WITHOUT INTERRUPTION - will be shown with
audio as part of the coverage by navy.mil and Defense Media Activity.

There will also be a ship selection "big show" - a production and
broadcast running concurrent with the ship selections. This will be
online only, and will feature interviews with the Superintendent, VADM
Copeman (SURFPAC), VADM Michelle Howard (N3/N5) and some Mids who have
made ship selections.

So please tune in. Watch the future of the Surface Warfare community make
their selections.

My son says they already know what order they will pick. It is based on their rank but I thought it was more than GPA. I am so excited to watch this and see what he will end up getting! Do any other parents have any idea what their mids may pick?

In the old days, it was OOM (Order of Merit), which included GPA, conduct, and PE grades. Not sure it's still done this way.

In 2008, it was still by OOM...probably hasn't changed.

Thank you for the live stream links. What an exciting time for all those young adults.
