Son received form from USAFA this morning indicating he needed to be measured for height/weight. DODMERB physician measured him at 1.5 inches shorter than his last physical but son is a muscular build. Are USMA, USNA and USAFA all on the same charts? He has 2 weeks but it would be more efficient to just wait till all the forms are here.

Thanks!

The height/weight standards for each service are quite different. For example, a 5'8" male's max weight in the Army is 170 lbs. in the Air Force, it's 180 lbs. All of the charts are available online.

I found a variety of charts for enlisted but found the academies too. It doesn't appear to be an issue for USMA or USNA. Slightly over USAFA but he is muscular. Scheduled with his physician Wednesday.

Thanks!

DS received a letter yesterday about taping for body mass index also. According to the charts he is well below the charts for weight. Does every candidate need to be taped?

Made an appointment with his physician but wondering if his trainer for the football team can complete the form. Waiting to see if any other academy tags him for another tape but it seems like the charts I located indicate he is fine. We were half expecting it. He doesn't look like he weighs as much as he does if that makes sense.

When my son needed to be taped we used the school nurse. I'm sure the school trainer would probably qualify but you can have him ask his admissions officer.

USAFA requested tape for my DS 6'1" 182 pounds-are the requesting because he is in the 180 range? When I saw the charts, it looks like he would be in range without issue.
Will he need tape down for USNA, USCGA and USMA too since USAFA requested it-just trying to plan ahead on how many appointments he will need for all these forms. I don't see the outcome of the tape as being an issue due to him being in great shape as an athlete-but more of an issue trying to fit tape appointments in.
BTW-best to everyone-I can't even believe that I'm back here again with the one kid that I have that I thought wouldn't want to serve...you never know!

I've located the Naval Academy standards https://www.usna.edu/Admissions/_files/documents/MedicalAppendix1.pdf and son doesn't appear to have an issue. My husband is Navy retired and recruited for 6 years. He doesn't think he will have an issue with taping. Son is 6'3 and 200 lbs. Broad shoulders, muscular but slim build.

I have been unable to locate USMA standards but he fits in the Army standards.

Question answered-DS "qualified" today on DODMERB website for all including USAFA-still have tape appointment Tuesday and will send as requested by USAFA
Best to all on this nutty roller coaster!

I just received an e-mail from USMA saying I exceeded the weight for my height. They also sent me a form that I need to get filled out. The form had instructions so I went ahead and filled it out and came out above the standard. I'm not fat!!! Not even slightly overweight. I have a very muscular build and a wide waist for a female and I really don't think the tape test is accurate. If I don't pass, is it the end of the line? I've already been qualified by DoDMERB for several weeks now and that still shows on my portal. I've also received an LOA if that makes any difference.

I'm not sure. Son was taped by his trainer and he was fine. Dr at physical measured him 1.5 inches short - or it was written down wrong - son didn't notice till we left the office. He is 6 3.5 and 200 lbs. You would never think he weighs what he does.

I wish you well. It's a long road.

My son was measured at the wrong height at DODMERB also- he is 6'1" (and the previous summer was 6') but DODMERB has him listed at 5'11"!
