    Hello all,

I am not really new here, I have been visiting the site frequently for the past year and only recently created a profile. This forum is great and everyone is very helpful!

I was wondering what is the Coast Guard Academy's policy on tattoos. Do they just follow this? http://www.uscg.mil/directives/ci/1000-1999/CI_1000_1B.pdf

    Thanks!

You will be asked about tattoos during your DoDMERB exam. If you do have a tattoo it will be noted and photographed. Officially, the tattoo should not be visible when in uniform. But, remember, a uniform at an Academy includes gym gear and swim suit.
For some the tattoos that they are getting on the top of their foot, around the ankle or lower back can be an issue prior to commissioning.

Almost correct. Tattoos will NOT be photographed. Tattoos, brands, and body piercing are noted and provided to each Service Academy and ROTC program where applicants have applied. Each Academy Admissions and ROTC program Registrar/Scholarship section then has the opportunity to follow up as they determine. :thumb:
