Just went today to get my taxes done....The accountant said even without a 1098 (I think thats the number he used...) I can deduct some of the costs 0o99-associated with sea year and school. I called 3 people looking for a number, no answer yet (or a call back) Anyway I know the "you cant deduct without the form" but I still want the number..anyone have a clue? Thanks

1098-T is what you are referring to. This shows the amount of Tuition and qualifing fees that you have been billed for the year and any offsetting scholarships you were awarded. There are no fees you were billed for from USMMA. You can still deduct a bit without the form. For instance computer and software used for the school are deductable now. They were not when my DS reported in 2008. Looking forward to graduation in June and the end of tax season!!!

Good luck to you.
