I believe, although I could be wrong, that we do not have access to everything on the portal until July 1st at the earliest.... That being said, should ask all the teachers I will need to fill out the SOEs before school ends or at the beginning of the next school year?
Yes you should!! One of the chalanges of the application process is getting teachers to cooperate while on break. Some feel they have no responsibility at all during break, others are just hard to get ahold of or are unavailable. I would ask them, get their summer email address , and brief them on what to expect. (BTW , it kind of like an online survey, and I wouldn't hesitate to tell them you would appreciate a little love with their responses). Lastly, I would emphasize how important these evaluations are to you and your life's path.
Another suggestion is , assuming it is a teacher who likes you, ask them to do an moc letter of recommendation to submit for those applications as well. I would ask several teachers, and then provide the addressed and stamped envelopes as well. You can mail them yourself. My son told them that he wasn't sure which moc's want which teachers, and thus advised each teacher he may or may not send every letter. He was then able to pick the best letters to send each moc.
These recommendations apply for administrators as well.
BTW, some folks want to write there own letter, others would rather you put one together for them to sign. That is best case scenario, and take advantage of it. Give yourself a fantabulous recommendation. Talk about specific instances, and what a great character you have. If the teacher doesn't like it, then it can be toned down. Some may disagree with this, but presumably the teacher thinks enough of you to make that offer. Just make it a good letter, and keep it honest. Don't make stuff up at all, but don't leave anything out either. Having said that, I would keep them all to one page.
