Teacher Recommendation Question

The instructions say it must be your junior or senior year teacher and if senior they must have had you in their class for at least a quarter of the term. DS is planning on asking his senior year AP english teacher but she was also his freshman year english teacher. So will that year count or does it have to be a quarter of his senior year?

I asked this same question and was told it MUST be an evaluation from either junior or senior year math class. It specifies in the instructions that if using senior year teacher, it must be after senior year has begun

Same here only mine was with my math teacher. I had him as a sophomore for AP Prob and Stats and then was set to have him as my teacher for AP Calc. My junior year math class was a virtual one and it was extremely hard to get a hold of my teacher for that class. I sent an email to admissions and they said if it was at all possible, then I needed to have my junior year virtual teacher write the recommendation. Hope this helps, and good luck!

That's correct. My DS asked his sophomore English teacher to submit a letter of recommendation for him and it was rejected. He decided to wait until the end of 1st qtr senior year for his AP English teacher to submit a letter for him, as he didn't feel that his junior year teacher would write a strong letter on his behalf.

Ok another question about this. Can DS go ahead and enter in his Sr year English teacher's info now even if she can't complete it until late Oct? Will it instruct her to wait until a quarter is complete?

I believe once the info is entered, an email is sent to the teacher with the instructions for the recommendation/evaluation. If you send it now, you risk the email getting lost or forgotten in the coming months. October is still early in the process so waiting might be a safer plan.

if you are also applying for a NROTC scholarship, do the letters of rec. automatically get forwarded to the respective selection board/admissions board? Or do I have to specifically ask them to forward them?

Between USNA and NROTC?
Dean Latta said in the future he hoped to make the process more interconnected between the two, but during my process I had to submit to each place independently.
