I have accepted an appointment to USMA 2019. I have been asked by my school district if I am an "appointee." Is this the correct terminology or is there a more appropriate term for my status?

Thanks.

Congrats! Once you have received an appointment and accept that appointment, you are a "cadet candidate." When you report on R-Day, you are a "new cadet." Once you successfully complete Beast, you are a "cadet."

Those at USMAPS are also "cadet candidates" until they receive an appointment, then report on R-Day and complete Beast.

From a strictly-USMA viewpoint, midwestmom is spot on. From a more generic view I would say it is safe to consider that for most civilians (unfamiliar with USMA terminology) that someone who has been given any kind of appointment is generally considered an appointee. Within the USMA community what she has said is much more specifically accurate.

Just tell them you are accepted to West Point no need for appointee, cadet candidate, etc.
