Texas Appointee Banquet

I received an invitation both by email and snail mail from Senator Cornyn's office inviting me to an appointee banquet in San Antonio later this month. I have RSVPd and want to know if anyone else here will be going.
 
Senator Cornyn had a reception last year on Memorial Day for all the Texas service academy appointees. It was not a banquet, but it was very well attended, despite the torrential rain storm we drove through to get to it. They recognized each appointee and had a photo op with the Senator. They even sent us a signed photo with our son, the Senator and two Generals who were speakers at the event.

I am curious about how much later in the month it is scheduled since the report date for most academies is coming up soon. CannotBeDisplayed - will you be going to Naval Academy? Last I remember you were doing prep this year, correct?
 
I think you are right about it being a reception rather than a banquet. Poor choice of wording on my part.

An O-8 Medal of Honor recipient is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at this event. It is on June 26th. I don't know about the other academies, but it's days before Navy's I-Day. Yes, I will be going to USNA after a year of NAPS.
 
I guess that takes out all of the USAFA appointees. I think I-day is June 25th this year. Good luck to you at the Naval Academy.
