Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm having a hard time finding the answer anywhere... For those that are familiar with the TASSP scholarship, can you use the scholarship while as a SMP cadet and still draw money from both to pay for college? (Or is it one or the other?)

I recall only a few weeks ago this was buried in a thread, and the answer was yes. The best thing to do is contact your college det and double check. Many dets have their own web page with FAQs have you checked there?

TASS

My DD has both the TASS and the NROTC-MO. You can use both at the same time, but there does seem to be some confusion about the TASS since it is a relatively new scholarship established by the Texas Legislature. Definitely call your local congressman and representative to see if they have given theirs out yet. (Each is allowed to award one per year to be used for 4 years of college- the Gov. and Lt. Gov. are allowed to give out 2 each year). We were the first to inquire about the TASS in our district and it was definitely weeks after Christmas last year- so you probably still have time. You are awarded $5000 per semester with the TASS to use for room, board, etc. BUT (and here is the big BUT) if you do not enter the military upon graduation or you drop out of ROTC during college, it is considered a loan at that point and you owe back every penny you have been awarded. It is a great scholarship, but definitely read ALL the fine print. Good luck and Gig ' Em!:thumb:
