Wondering if any students might be able to help with this. I am trying to locate the ISBN number for the chem book that is used plebe year (Chem 1). Would like to make tutoring arrangements for upcoming breaks, etc. and see if it is on cramster.

DS doesn't know anyone still taking chem and I thought that maybe someone might still have the ISBN number attached to their cramster account or still have a copy of the book.

Trying to get a leg up on summer school.... thanks!!!

Not to be mean, but please, please, please allow your DS or DD to enjoy their breaks from school. The last thing they need is a tutoring/educational session. They get breaks that are few and far between.....the dividends paid by a handful of tutoring sessions even before a class starts would not be worth it.

The opportunity cost for this is way too high in my opinion.

Not to worry - breaks will be interrupted only slightly and just enough to keep things fresh. I totally hear you.

I must disagree. Tutor away, your Plebe will thank you later.

I'd like to see a current midshipman chime in on this.

As someone who has been on both ends of the stick (Failed a sea project on one end and had a 3.9 GPA one trimester on the other end of the spectrum) I really see no benefit from a handful of tutoring sessions before one even has the class. I say this because:
1)The last thing any midshipman on break wants to do on vacation time is look at a textbook. They get that for around 40 weeks a year or more as it is.
2)You never know if what is being stressed by the tutor is even going to come close to what the particular teacher will stress (Example: one of my calc instructors Dr. Dellwo [still there??] taught calculus in this seemingly abstract way of talking about boxes and things like that, was nothing like I had ever seen/been taught before.]
3)A few tutor sessions will get you through a very small percentage of the material. At most this would potentially get you maybe a week or two into a trimester long course.

And in my opinion the most important:
4)Opportunity Cost: the other things your midshipman could be doing with that time/ the potential fights / etc are in my opinion greater than the very small head start a few sessions would give one.
