I just want to extend my thanks to this forum and the people here for the help that you guys offered me through my double-application process, especially last summer. I know that the chances of the general community remembering one passing member aren't high, but I want to thank you all nonetheless. To give a brief back story, I was an accepted cadet candidate for the Class of 2017 last year (my senior year of high school) until I tore my meniscus only a couple of weeks before R-Day last summer. I had no idea what I was supposed to do and I was absolutely crushed at the prospect of missing out on West Point, and came here asking for someone to point me in the right direction. It was primarily the help of this community that led me to report my situation through the proper channels and get in touch with the right people. I was still disqualified for the year and the Class of 2017, but I did secure an LOA and a chance to reapply for this year's class. It was quite a ride, but yesterday my portal was updated with my offer of appointment, which (of course) I immediately accepted.

Celebrating my re-appointment is not why I made this thread, though. I want to express my appreciation for this community and each of the many people who offered me help and advice from last summer as I thought my life plan was collapsing all the way to now. I honestly don't know where I would be now if I had not received the help and guidance that I did here. Whether or not anyone remembers doing so, those who helped me had a huge impact on my circumstances, and I am extremely grateful for that. I know that replying over and over to the same "do I have a chance" threads and countless similar questions gets redundant and trying, but I think it's important to know that you are making a difference in real people's lives. So thank you all again, and please don't stop helping us clueless candidates.

He, and no, I'm not, to the extent of my knowledge. Could someone direct me to that?

Congratulations, Lone Star. I've followed your story as a lurker for quite a while now, but had to create a profile just so I could thank you for using this forum to ask questions that might pertain to many others. So happy that you're on your way!

And what a nice thing to do to say thanks to all the forum regulars who helped along the journey. Good for you!

Congrats, Lone Star. I remember reading your posts from last year. You're from Childress or Memphis, somewhere up on 287, right?

Please have your moms join us on West Point Moms. They need to check their private messages after requesting to join, as an admin will send them a question that requires a response. Additionally, there is a smaller group for parents of c/o 18. They will get info on the moms' page. Congrats to all!

Thanks to all of you for the congratulations! It means a lot, and I definitely appreciate it.

    Childress, yes. Good memory!

Oh, and mom3boys, I believe my mom joined last year. I would guess that she's still on it.

But, if your mom joined last year, wouldn't she have joined the class of 2017 moms FB group?

I think she just joined the general West Point mom's page, not the specific class year one. I could easily be wrong about that - to be honest I haven't talked to her about it.

Just making sure. I don't know how all that works, but shouldn't be hard to work it out if there is a problem.

LoneStar, I remember your story, and I've been reading all your updates about it. Glad to hear you're able to go to West Point this year.

Thank YOU for having such a great attitude about the whole situation, and sharing your story with all of us. I don't think it's any exaggeration To say that you're a good role model to those of us on here who wish to attend a service academy one day. Seriously, I admire how you've handled this situation.

    Best of luck.
