I'm trying to plan for a plane ticket home for my plebe over Thanksgiving Holiday. any idea when we will know when the plebes will be "free" so I can get his ticket? who within the Academy could answer this do you know?

Historically, USNA does an accelerated schedule on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, which means that classes will be done by 1230 (Maybe? Don't remember anymore). If a mid doesn't have afternoon classes though, they can leave after their last military obligation. Usually they have to be back by 1800 that Sunday.

The official policy when I was a plebe at USNA (which is now two Dants ago) was to schedule a return flight that returns at least four hours before the End of Liberty (EOL) formation. Otherwise, like if you schedule a flight returning at, say, 1630, and it got delayed/cancelled, the MIDN could be held responsible.

On the front end, allow at least two hours to get to the airport and check in.

If any of this has changed, the administration will probably put out info fairly soon.

Thanksgiving, Winter, and Spring Break leave ends at 2000 on the day that it ends. This was just changed last year. You are supposed to have your return flight land no shorter than 4 hours before that time.

Apparently my post count needs to be 10+ in order to post a link. So, if you go onto USNA website and go to academics>calendars-events you'll find a term calendar.

Wednesday before Thanksgiving is indeed on "Early" class period schedule, so last academic Wednesday period ends at 1245. I think they still need to 'sign out' back at Bancroft, and then get to the airport. I would suggest BWI as opposed to Reagan, or worse, Dulles given the distance and the heavy traffic around DC on that day.
