I'm super psyched and nervous and excited and everything - so many emotions. What do you guys think?

My son talks about it everyday, he is so pumped. Luckily baseball season is in full swing, so that keeps him in the here and now!

Truly, this excitement is one of life's rarest of highs.:thumb::biggrin: So few share it:cool:

Not to let any of this rarified air escape from the balloon ...but I suspect some Mids might offer, "Don't worry, you'll get over it.":shake::bang::hammer::director:

You should all go chill out and live life for the time being. Enjoy what you've got for the next few months. I would bet that you are going to hold a lot of hate and resentment toward USNA, for one thing or another, in the coming years. Keep that happy place out of your head for now and be free.

Marvin's advice is good. However, not every mid hates or resents USNA.

Marvin, you slightly cynical son of a gun, I bet you were just as pumped and full of yourself as these kids are in the last few months of freedom before you hit your I-Day. It's like Christams except they have to pay the bill in 90 days.

That said Marvin is right. Enjoy these last few days of total freedom. As a parent I've gotten the phone calls and text messages from a highly stressed out mid curseing life at a particular moment. On the flip side I've also gotten message like today that all is well. "Dad, I love this school. I'm sitting here studying and some mid decided to take his robot for a walk....that isn't strange anymore."

Marvin, I hope you are haveing a damned fine day where ever you are in the world.

Midndad, thanks. I am having a great day. I don't hate USNA, and never hated being there. For you soon to be inmates, you'll figure out that it is the little things that count. So enjoy them while you have them. You might hate a class, your company officer, the liberty policy, or the food. For anyone of those, you'll blame the Academy. Realism, not cynicism. It's all just griping to get you through the days. But first, enjoy your summers and don't think about it.

Pachrian, every mid hates the Naval Academy. It doesn't mean that they wouldn't do it again. It just means that they hate the Naval Academy. It's tough to explain. But it's true.

My mid does not hate the Naval Academy. He may "hate" a particular paper that is due, or doing chow calls, etc. He is tolerating the plebe year things well .........wouldn't want to chop and do chow calls, etc any longer than necessary. He tells us he LIKES the Naval Academy.

If any USNA 2014 folks have a friend going to USAFA send them a letter as they report a week before you!

Definitely enjoy normal life for as long as you can, as it will never be the same again. You'll never look at things the way you did previously. Your last chance to be a kid...

My son is living life for today...maybe just for this split second.

Don't know if that's good or bad, but he is enjoying being 18, a senior with a truck,a nice girlfriend, and new patches on his letter jacket. Life is simply good right now.
