The dreaded "Hold" Status

From what my DS told us, cadets with a D or lower don't make the cut. Apparently that is what happened to a few of those that did not make it this year.

There is ample assistance to the cadets to do well. The class sizes are very small so there is a good student to teacher ratio. They are available for the cadets that need help. There is also a lot of tutoring available. A lot of the cadets make up their own study groups and all this helps them succeed. There are a number of academic Saturdays in which the cadets are required to study instead of being able to go off post.

If your DS or DD really wants into KP, they will put forth the discipline and effort at NMMI to succeed. This experience will certainly put them in a good position when they do make it to KP in so many ways.

Hi all- If KP is a family then NMMI is the betrothed!lol DS just got the status update "NMMI" - amazing how your life can change in a day! We are all so happy for him. We saw the update and after school broke out some NMMI paraphernalia - t-shirts, pens, water bottle (stuff the recruiter had stored away for such a time as this) -and our DS got the subtle hint! -- hasn't stopped smiling since.

On another thread someone asked when reporting day is, here is what we heard from NMMI: KP Sponsored Preps will report a week before others for a 7 day calculus "kick start" program. Arriving early apparently will also help Preps acclimate to the altitude, humidity (lack of) etc.
Also at that time looks like they will will get; hair cut  room assignments, uniforms, computers and lets not forget surrender their phones and tcb with the registrar. I believe idoc for all aka rat week begins after that.

Also heard parents weekend is in september. See all you all there!:thumb:

Congratulations!

PeaceBeStill,
Congratulations on the news! This is the time of year for those great surprises! Everything I hear is positive that NMMI is a great "first year" of a 5 year program in USMMA. They come in well prepared physically and academically. Best of luck and we hope to see you in the Parents of the Class of 2019.

I don't think there were other issues but Physics is particularly important. Perhaps recommendations were not very strong. Anyway, she went on to another college and us doing great in her career.

Congratulations to you all! We were in your position only two weeks ago and know what a life changing event this can be especially going through the long wait, being on hold, and portal changing out of no where.

On the NMMI post - Maj Hanak (Prep Director) mentioned the report date will be July 31.

We are debating whether or not to take that long road trip as a family and dropping him off the day prior or just let him do it alone.

What's everyone thinking of doing? Is there a NMMI 2014-15 facebook for people like us (and alums) to share thoughts and info?

Is there anyone still on hold or any holds get any updates from admissions since may 1st?

I'm still on hold... Alas... Congrats to everyone who has gotten a BFE so far, I am still holding out hope.

Last year my DS never gave up hope and received a phone call on May 7 with an appointment. He is doing great in class of 2017. It can still happen for you.

Never give up hope! I just heard yesterday of someone accepted to USMMA changing their mind as they got a call from their first choice school saying they were being plucked from the wait list. So stuff happens.

Finally....son got "the small envelope".

From being an recruited football player...there has been more jerking around and more smoke blown than a John Deere tractor pull.

I'm glad its done. Leaves for NAPS in July.

Good luck to everyone.

Sorry to hear this news so late in the game! Did he hear from the football coach too? I'm with you about being glad it's 'done' - this is such a long and grueling process and the outcome so unknown. Congrats to NAPS - carry on and don't look back.

Haze.

Sent you a PM.

Last week DS was offered appointment via phone, but declined after having accepted appointment to WP last month. Someone else then received an offer.

My DS accepted an appointment for class of 2018. Yesterday he received his orders in the mail and they require you to return a signed agreement within 48 hours...i suppose this leaves room for some additional drop off. So, hang in the KP Joe....i have my fingers crossed for you.

Congratulations to your son and thank you!

Just out of curiosity, when did your son's online status change to indicate he got accepted? Still holding on here strong...

My son got an LOA last year and got the appointment in January after he received the nomination from the congressman so his status was not on hold at any time.

Our son heard on 5/13. He did not get an appointment.
