"The Few, The Proud"

WTF???? Pretty tricky trying to come up with a new slogan while keeping the "brand" so to speak. They have always portrayed themselves as the elite service, in fact where everyone was elite (whether one believed it or not). My new neighbor at my coastal NC home is Director of Marketing for MARSOC. I'll have to check with him to see what he knows, if anything.

"The Few, The Proud" communicates perfectly what it means to be a Marine and sets the expectation for recruits, why change?

Whaaaa How could they do this.....ending what I would consider possibly the best marketing campaign known to mankind for this...

Must have gone out and hired the Army Marketing firm...... "an Army of one" BLAHH:bang:

The USMC has been using the same recruiting firm for over 60+ years. With big data now being such a driving force behind nearly everything a company does in advertisement, I am sure some of those analytics are driving those changes. I have always liked the slogan and wish it wouldn't change. But I realize that millenials and soon to be Gen Z guys react, think and are driven by different things. The Marine Corps will always be what it is that I have confidence in. JWT Marketing knows its stuff and I trust the USMC will come up with something great (hopefully).

Good point, the Marines get it right when it comes to their brand.

Got me to thinking of what appealed to me when I first considered joining the Marine Corps.

This was the slogan at the time I was contemplating my decision to join.

A few others along the way...

I always mentally complete that slogan, "The Few, The Proud, The Best Dressed"

The Few, The Proud, Those Who Spent The Most on Their Uniforms! ;)

I only laugh at that because as much as Marine Corps uniforms do look good, didn't have quiet the same effect being a woman!

Ditto! Marine women look just as sharp.

They may look sharp, but it has a reverse effect on men! They run away! I do like the new blues jacket, but can't imagine how hard it is to tailor for a female.

One of the best stories... I had just returned from Iraq and was attending one of my best friend's weddings. It was black tie and I hadn't had time to get a dress for the wedding, so I wore my dress blues. The groom and all his buddies in uniform were Navy guys and pilots. None of them had hit the fleet yet (fighter pilots seem to take forever to hit the fleet). Since I had the Marine ball the week before I had my medals redone (the Col above put me to shame, but I wasn't doing to bad for a young junior officer). The groom's grandmother asked me why I had all the pretty medals and the boys only had one! It made my night!

What's wrong with the current one??? I like it! And yeah bring those sam browne belts back for the Army too, I think they look great too

Not sure what you are trying to imply there, Hoops! ;)

As for tailoring, imagine the new choker whites for female...it's even worse with whites than blues!
