The package has arrived!

Congrats to you all! Im 3q'ed with a nom so im just playing the waiting game. Hope I hear soon. Im so jelous of all the appointees! Hopefully ill be one soon.

Son received his appt package yesterday as well. What a great Friday the 13th!

Senator's office had called two weeks ago, but he was still nervously wanting to see the real thing. DoDMERB status still hasn't changed.

Congrats to all and prayers for all those who wait. The waiting is so hard!

Is it common for the senator or house of representatives office to call to notify you of an appointment or is it a courtesy that some provide while others do not?

Congratulations to your son!!!! What do you mean by nothing has changed on his DoDMERB site?

The Academy gives the members of congress notification of impending appointments first. Then processes the paperwork and sends the packets out. The Academy gives the congressmen a time period to notify appointees (I have heard 10 days is about the time). The congressmen do with that what they will. It appears that most are calling this year. Our son received the call on Tuesday the 10th, a congressional certificate of congratulations on his appointment on the 11th, and the appointment package on the 14th of Feb.

As far as DodMerb status. The only changes we saw were: subagency: NALOA had appeared on there in Nov. and admissions status change date reflected the same date as what was on his LOA from USNA. Then on Feb. 5, the subagency:NALOA dissappeared from his USNA section in DODMERB and the admissions status change date reflected Feb 5, 2009 as the date. There are no other changes in the DODMERB site which would indicate an appointment is on its way. It also seems that changes in admissions status change date occur when an academy reviews a case for some reason. For example, that date has changed to Jan 21 for our son's USMMA section, but his LOA was dated Dec. 22. The date changed from dec 22, to jan 21 but there are no changes in his status at all, meaning he does not have a nomination at this time and that would be the only thing left in order for an appointment to be issued. We think USMMA may have updated his file with transcripts we sent. So don't put too much stock in the changes on DodMerb as far as admissions. Remember they are the medical people, not the admissions people :)

My son receceived his "big packet" in the mail 13 days exactly after receiving the call from his congressman saying he was he had been awarded an appointment to USNA. The number 13 has definitely been a lucky number for my son!

Appointment arrived 2/17/09!

:smile:I was greeted with the large package last evening, dated 2/12/09; it took exacly 10 days from status change date recognition on DODMERB.

YAY!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! Time for the Happy Dance!

time till arrival ?

To "mjcjac" and others who have received their Appointment package:

If you got word that you had received a waiver how long was it till you received the Appointment package?

LOA was received long ago,
Nomination was long ago,
Call came on Feb 9 informing us that she had been granted waiver
Letter confirming waiver arrived yesterday (Feb 17).

Any notion as to when to expect actual Appointment ?

Thanks

Hi, this is what I read on other threads: processing time is about 10 days. The Academy gives your nominating MOC notification of your impending appointment, then waits about 10 days to mail the package. MOC may or may not call you. However, package should be processed and in your mailbox within about 14 days of the status change date, which I would say is a few days after the date of your waiver letter. Hang in there, if you have satisfied all LOA requirements, you will have it soon! Just FYI, our son's waiver letter was dated Jan 28, his appointment arrived on Feb. 14. Hope this helps, let us know when it arrives for you! :)

Congrats! Maybe we should arrange to meet somewhere the day before I-Day? A Moms get together!

Congrats to all you "Moms!"

And, heartiest congrats to all your great kids!

To those who are "still waiting," my son called Capt. Wallace of the USNA Foundation and asked to be able to give up his civil prep offer from last fall, so that opens up a civil prep option for someone else. And, he has already called USNA and USMA and asked to be removed from consideration as a candidate. That's because he received an appointment to USAFA several weeks ago and just accepted. He said he knows others like him are sweating an appointment or civil prep and he doesn't need another one just to see if he gets one, having made a decision to go to Air Force.

It was great to see Mom Collins with the joy of the big envelope over the last few hours, and pml, Hopeful, justwaiting and eveyone else -- congratulations to all of you and all of your kids! :thumb:

as one voice of the many waiting - our thanks to your son for his living the honor and intregity - to have what he wanted and to let the others know - speaks volumes of his charactor - congrats! wishing you fair winds
