COL Harvey Dick, The Citadel Class of 1953, Assistant Commandant of Cadets from 1977 - 1993, and Member, The Citadel Board of Visitors from 1993-1999 and 2001-2006 passed away today after a short, but brutal battle with cancer. He was a mentor to many of us who entered the brotherhood. A tough SOB while we were cadets, COL Dick embodied the Citadel spirit and is an icon for thousands of graduates. He will be greatly missed. I once rang the bell on LTC Dick's bicycle as I was walking out of P-T Barracks. That was a mistake.
