I had thought there was one already started, but after looking at the thread titles, it doesn't appear to be the case. There was a thread about Plan B and back to AFA, but it was more about the logistics than starting a support thread.

So, here it goes.... DS received QNV (for those new to this Qualified, No Vacancy) today so on to plan B. DS is planning on reapplying next year, but in better shape and with a year of college and hopefully some ROTC under his belt. For the summer, he is working at Boy Scout camp in a supervisory position. We plan of following the advice given by the experience veterans here and plow ahead.

Can I be an alumni of this club since I reapplied this year? Haha. Anyway good luck to those who join this club. After looking back at my TWE last year it was such a blessing in disguise. Prep school has given me a year to grow, mature, and become so much more prepared for the academy! I will be happy to answer any questions anyone that I have the ability to answer. Also, for those of you choosing to go to NWP (OHHH GOODY!) I will be more than happy to tell you all the inside hints and tips! :thumb: Good luck to those who reapply and know that while it may seem hard now, it may just work out for the best!

Oops, I saw your original post about needing a thread and I just started one. Then I saw your just did one so I am going to try to delete mine

I think we should start a year long thread for those from Class of 2015 reapplying for possible Appointment for Class of 2016. It might start out pokey, but it will burn brightly come Spring of 2012. In case you don't know, about 30% of USAFA cadets come from students who re-applied, most post High School students (college or military prep students) and it DOES reflect positively on your file when you have the determination and interest to re-apply. So........................REPORT IN (also known as the Parents Decompression and Inspiration Lounge). I'm making you lemonade and tuna fish sandwiches right now, so talk to you later.

I emailed the moderators to delete my other thread, so HELLO! So glad you started this one :)

Count me in!

Contacted my AFROTC Detachment Commander a few days back about keeping an eye out for me for the ROTC Nomination. I'm very familiar with the entire application process now (having gone through it once already) plus DoDMERB is good for another year (thank goodness!!), so once the application re-opens up, I'll be all set to go! :)

Reporting in... Accepting my ROTC scholarship, and I'm starting to prepare new folders with checklists on everything my counselor said to do.

Reporting in as well. DS received his TWE today although his counselor had let him know that the TWE was coming. DS has all ready been accepted to NWP as a free-agent. However, we are hoping that he gets a Falcon Foundation scholarship at the end of the month to help pay for NWP and to increase his chances of getting an appointment next year.

NWP is a fantastic option! tlangford and I are both Falcons who went to NWP this past semester. I know he will agree with me when I say the experience there is one that you will not trade for the world. For anyone else who gets a TWE--It is NOT the end of the world--There are MANY options and routes to getting appointed next year!

My DS got his TWE QNV letter today as well. He's upbeat, will do AFROTC at Texas A&M and reapply next year as well.

Count me in! We're 0 for 2 in my household. :( However, it is important to accept disappointment with dignity, and we are trying to do just that. So, pass those tuna sandwiches and the lemonade (because all of us here plan to make...lemonade out of lemons, yes?!) I brought fresh-baked, still melty double fudge brownies. Here you go--dig in.

Hoping for any of the following: Falcon, Prep, or late appointment. I agree with tlangford--NWP is fantastic. Free agent or Falcon, you won't regret your 4 months there. The Durbecks have no equal in preparing young men and women for service academies.

Anyway, life goes on, off to a swim meet. As MAILBOX STALKING II, The Sequel, begins...

DjSanguine, do you know how many of the NWP free-agents received USAFA appointments this year?

Congrats to being accepted to NWP as a free agent. That path sounds very familiar as I too applied as a free agent then receive my falcon scholarship. So I am hoping the same happens to you. Blackbird, does you DS plan to attend NWP regardless of falcon scholarship or free agent status?

And yes me and DJSanguine can both account for NWP. Also I agree with Flyerdreamin, the 4 months their are the most amazing!! The bonds we built with eachother still stay with us and will even with us going to different academies. I highly recommend this path to anyone that is reading this thread because they got a TWE, no matter what, this is not (if you dont want it to be) the end!! NWP has helped me mature, built the best friends i could ever imagine, worked on my memorization, and done more for me than i could imagine.

I can not wait to return to NWP next fall in my USAFA uniform and talk to all the prepsters!!

Sorry for duplicate posts. I know of 2 free agents who have gotten in so far to USAFA, about 5 to West Point, and one to USNA, 2 to USAFA prep, and 2 to USMMA, also a few have full ROTC offers in AF and Navy. Many are also still waiting to hear but i think those numbers are close, DJSanguine might know of more...

Thanks for the encouragement tlangford and yes DS plans to attend NWP regardless of whether he gets a FF scholarship or not. That is one reason I was trying to get a handle on how well the free-agents did this year getting appointments. I know that most all the FF candidates from NWP get appointments but we don't know the track record or the free-agents.

Well that answer is difficult to say. generally, NWP has about a 90% free agent acceptance rate, usually those who dont are from poor work at NWP or in second semester college. Also, this year with the class reduction it is harder for everyone, even the free agent prepsters! But regardless, NWP is a LIFE CHANGING experience. I look forward to meeting your DS next fall when I return to NWP on thanksgiving break!! Out of curiosity, if you dont mind me asking, where are you from?

2 to USNA, I believe--One got an appt, and one got a principle nom. Numbers are correct so far though.

I can't belive another year of stalking these sites! Oh well DS rec'd the "qualified not selected but....if a spot becomes available...." Have no idea what that means for him. Does that mean he might get one but the chances are slim? Can he still be a Prep SChool nomination? How does that work? He is piolot qualified if that makes a difference. He is accepting his AROTC 4 year scholarship and reapplying to AFA next year.
