"The Wait List" Club.....

Thank you for your kind words, bossf51 :)

To all of you, I wish the best, whether you are on the wait list or have already been accepted. I know that even if I don't get into the Coast Guard Academy, my plan will always be to excel.

Congratulations to you and your daughter. It’s a great position to be in when you have to make a choice between two service academies. :shake: .

Does anyone know if there is an appointment offered to someone on wait list for everyone that is turned down, or is the class size overbooked with the anticipation of some appointments being turned down? If the class is overbooked by how many?

Objee or Luigi would have better information than me, but what I have heard in the past is that about 400 appointments are offered, and a Swab Summber class is about 250-280.

My son has received appointments to the USMMA and USNA :thumb:. By the end of this weekend he will have visited both academies and will make a decision as to which one is best for him. He will remain on the CGA waitlist.

Son has decided to accept USNA appointment:jump1:! Letter is signed sealed and goes out in the mail tomorrow. With it starts a whole new chapter in his and our lives!

Don't know where you guys live but tell your daughter she will LOVE the scenery in the fall! And the fans during football season are one of a kind! We're about an hour from there...Congrats on her decision and may she experience everything West Point has to offer! :thumb:

:jaw: You should have seen the look on my face! Bending over...nose over toes looking into my box wondering what the heck is stuck and then I see a BFE that is fat and white! Got in the car...laughed and cried at the same time! Thanks MVP!! Here I am thinking stalking the box won't begin until May 1st! :bleh2:

Disey3 Too Funny!

You almost had me at the BFE until I read more. Please be careful when opening the mail box after May 1st (no chewing gum or hard candies) and please remember to breathe. Your son will need your messenger services.:shake:

And the countdown continues!

I promise...

no chewing gum, hard candy or likes...nothing that will require CPR or an AED! This way nothing will be used to shock my system back! Oooh my goodness...someone please call progressive and tell them to hold off sending my renewal pkg in the mail! Tell 'em July....:shake:

For those who have received appts and for those of you who still wait, I wish everyone the very best of luck in future plans.

Recently, our daughter turned down appointments to West Point ( dad's alma mater) the Naval Academy and the Coast Guard Academy. It was a difficult thing for her to do as she really thought she wanted to attend a service academy. Even when she turned back her final appointment, she cried a little.

However, she decided that her heart was really with the University of Notre Dame where she will be attending with a AROTC scholarship. Even though she was greatly honored by the appointments and could envision herself going to any one of the three academies; she knew that she did not have the "burning desire" to attend and did not want to prevent others from attending who did have that deep desire.

We are looking forward to graduation and the upcoming college year and new chapter in our lives. And for those who are taking the challenge to attend and excel at the service academies, I wish you all the very best.

House,
That was very mature of your daughter and a hard decision I'm sure. Best of luck to her and GO IRISH!:yllol:

House06,

Many congratulations to your daughter. Rent the movie, "Rudy" before she goes off on her new adventure. -officer

House06...your daughter is a determined individual! Following her heart and mind even with outside influences shows strength of character! She will grow to be a fine young woman! Be proud of all her accomplishments but I have a funny feeling there is so much more to come from her! Wish her well on her decision and have a fabulous ride in life!! Experience everything!! :thumb:
