    Well, everything is turned in.

We've taken and retaken the SAT's.

    And now. We wait.

I guess this for all of us who have heard nothing from the academy. And for those last year who heard relatively late, what kept you sane? Because I am really starting to worry.

Approximately how many have been notified of their appointment?

    Good luck everyone.

I read in a letter from Annapolis that they only make 40% of the Offers of Appointment by mid-January. So relax and remain sane. I'm sure Annapolis doesn't want 60% of its incoming class to be insane.

I'm still waiting too. Waiting first for my waiver which is in process right now, then wait again for the admissions letter. I feel you're pain, it's hard but I'm trying to stay positive.

A waiting game for sure, although our son is also relieved that his part (applications, exams, interviews, etc.) is complete, and it's out of his control, how ever it plays out over the next few months.

Well, I know that "Perfection" doesn't have to camp out by the mailbox anymore for the USNA because he got the good news from his MOC. (Great pic, Perfection!!)

I'm so glad I found this site because I felt like I was the only person in the whole USA who was going crazy waiting. I thought I would never be finished with all the application requirements. Now I almost wish I had something to do again!

I read on one of the threads that we should go have some fun and try not to worry, well, I still do all the stuff I've always done, but this is always on my mind. Everytime the phone rings, I jump. The keys that I use to log on to my candidate information page are wearing out. Our mailman must think I'm a stalker. And, my parents' nerves are even worsethan mine, if you can imagine that!

So hang in there everyone, and I will, too. My brother, who started out in SEAL training and is now a Navy musician, told me that by August I'd probably be wishing I was still at home waiting to hear something  I hope he's right!!

BTW, Surfrchck, have you seen the '2014 Appointment Thread'? It will give you an idea about the appointments that have been received by those on this site. I noticed that not many have gone out this past week. Can't decide if that makes me more or less anxious. LOL

When my brother took that picture, it was about 15 degrees out. If that's not bad enough, our mail box is a half mile away from our house! In the summer, it was good encouragement to run every day!

My brother will feel better about enduring that "hardship" for me now that he knows it is appreciated:yllol:

Yeah. I then tried to figure out what percentage of applicants frequent this site and multiply that by 50 (#of appts...) to maybe get a general idea of how many more slots there are...

    gosh I hate this.

So I see you have been practicing your mental mathematics-gymnastics as well. I've been trying to calculate my chances of receiving an appointment based on my nominations, which are competitive...

    First MOC: 10 candidates
Second MOC: 3 candidates, (overlapping noms)
Third MOC: Unsure, but estimate 7 assuming some overlap
Each MOC has one slot, so I have about a 15% chance...

Of course, that doesn't take into account anything besides my noms and the competition in my state. There is so much more to it than I could ever try to figure out mathematically, or any other way for that matter.

Someone said that 40% of the class is notified by January. That's probably the best answer I've seen.

    Hang in there! GO NAVY!!!

    Passed CFA at NASS 09.
DoDMERB qualified (no waiver needed) September.
    Scholastically qualified November.
Nomination from all 3 MOCs (they did not select primary) December.

Eventhough I passed the CFA at NASS, should I re-take it to make my self more attractive?

Was notified yesterday that I received an academic scholarship to one of my civilian college choices, which will cover tuition for 4 years. Was admitted to the College of Engineering (Chemical).

Well I guess the wait continues. As others have said, no news is good news.

    Stay tactically safe.

huskerdophin - congrats on the scholarship. I have a similar situation but with aerospace engineering. (My dad's bachelor is in chemical engineering.)

I've discovered that waiting is not my mom's strong suit! (Hey, Mom, I see you've been busy on here.) Hopefully we'll all hear something soon.

Huskerdolphin: Re-take the CFA if you can markedly improve. You want them to say "Hey, look at this!" when they receive new scores!

Candidly I would be very surprised if the number of offers in January reaches 40%- maybe 25% because of the larger than normal number of LOAs outstanding - but even that is just seat of the pants (which is not a good way to fly).

    1964 ,
I think that's the first I've heard of a larger than normal number of LOAs. Can you explain/expand?

To those waiting, try to remember that you did all you can do and it is out of your hands. I know that is much easier said than done. My son did not hear from USNA until April and the news was not what he had wished for, The upside is that he is at another Service Academy and is doing well. So to all those waiting, keep stalking the postman or women but remember you end up where you are supposed to be. If you need help waiting feel free to PM me.
