Those deferred

In the deferment letter from USAFA, it said appointments will be made IN early April. Does this mean there that we will all have to wait until April, or will some admission status' trickle out before this?

Maybe they meant most/all appointments will be sent out by early april.

Even though my DS is waiting to hear for USNA/USMA, I get why everyone is trying to "read between the lines." In another USAFA thread, someone posted their deferment letter which states "we are deferring an appointment decision until our Regular Selections period in March. While we have decided not to make you an early offer of appointment, your application will be reviewed again during Regular Selections along with our entire class of 2018 candidate pool. The fact that you completed your file for Early Action will also be considered at that time and has been noted as a testament to your motivation to attend the Air Force Academy. Approximately 50% of all appointments will be offered during Regular Selections. Please continue to update your file to ensure that we know of any additional accomplishments, new grades, or improved standardized test scores. Admissions will let you know your final status in early April."

So clearly anyone deferred will be evaluated again during Regular Selections in March and notified in early April. IF you are notified before April, consider that the icing on the cake!

Most likely there will be a trickle of appointments until the bulk mailing. This is how it has gone for the past few years. I know that with EA things are slightly different. As nominations are racked and stacked for those who are not principle nominees and they get to all the other completed applications (usually there is a weekly board that reviews applications and racks and stacks) you will start to see some appointments role out.
