Tips for BCT 2009

The first one doesn't get you put on recondo. You'll take one at the end, and if you do poorly, then you get put on recondo. Taking it in the beginning is tough, especially if you come from sea level.

But your score will go way up. I went up like, 80 points from the first PFT to the final.

Things people keep telling me are that i'll be able to run laps around my fellow trackies... haha! I'm sure that's an exaggeration, but has any cadet experience this "over-capacity" when he/she went back to visit at sea-level? How cool was it?? lol

Nitpicky question here...how does reporting in work? Is it every time a cadre addresses you reply with sir/mam, basic cadet __ reports as ordered?

For my year, anyone who scores less than 200 on the end of BCT PFT/AFT went on recondo. During the school year, a PEA less than 2.0 due to PFT/AFT or PE will place one on recondo.

What times for the 1.5 miler are we looking at to determine if one gets put onto recondo?

Over 11 minutes?

Only reason I'm so worried is because my leg is still injured (close to healing, but I haven't been able to run in forever. I just started biking again recently).

And also, what happens if you are put onto "recondo"?

Thanks

hornet, i think that's how it was for us too. on the second PFT, if you scored below 200 you were put on recondo.

recondo meets really often.. not sure of the days, because i 'm not on it, but i think it's every day that you dont have intramurals. so 2-3 times a week. and you go workout.

at recondo?

nooooo sir. lol

it's tough goin, a guy in my squad was the CIC for it last year.

Does anyone know the approximate time that you have to get on the 1.5 mile to be put onto recondo?

So everyone is doing the same things you're doing? Even if you were only deficient in pushups, they still make you do sit-ups or vice versa?

As a recondo veteran (so listen when I say DON'T go on Recondo!)...

Recondo meets 3 days a week during intermurals and sometimes 5 days a week when there are no intermurals. The workouts are usually from 1645-1800(ish). The "ish" depends on the day, the workout, and the CIC. I had days where Maj. Tiernan cut off my CIC at 1835 and kicked us out. The workouts are usually set for the first 2 days of the week and Fridays are whatever the CIC determines (running suicides for an hour+ isn't fun).

You get on recondo by scoring below 200 on the 2nd BCT PFT/AFT or if your PEA drops below 2.0 (which is 50% PFT, 35% PE class, and 15% AFT). On the PFT and AFT, 250 is the 2.0 mark.

Being on recondo also means you are on probation. You are not allowed to sign out without AOC approval, and are subject to a PERC (review committee which can kick you out if you don't improve).

Jeez! Do a lot of people go on recondo? What got you into recondo?

Yes, the irony...a "perc"

I failed my PFT, very badly. Don't do it! It sucks, and you lose a lot of opportunities if you are stuck on probation.

Also, beware of Physical Development. Do take that class seriously or you will also find yourself on recondo... lol

It's in the little handbook that you download when you're a candidate. The one with the instructions on how to do the CFA and all that stuff. They have a table on how they score it.
