Mail comes for me in about 30-40 minutes from now so aren't I excited :D

thanks

This message thread has helped me so much. I now know a lot more about their mailing system and stuf but i think the most important thing is knowing people are in the same boat as me. its KILLING ME! I haven't even heard from NROTC yet. i got rejected form the early board but they selected me for the general board thing. I hate all this waiting and hoping to come home to a large manilla folder at my door everyday.

Thank you. My mail comes at like 2. Do you know what notification the NROTC comes in? Is it a large folder like USNA or is it a small envelope? Cuz what ive gathered from these forums is a white small envelope is just plain bad news. Ive been trying to mentally prepare myself for that in case. I hope you get good news as well.

Am I the only one who gets excited when I hear the phone ring? I'm pretty sure my congressman calls before you'll receive the BFE. Sort of like double the torture

The waiting is hard, but DS just got the TWE today. That's worse!

I'm so sorry to hear that.. make sure u encourage him or her to apply next year. If something is your dream, do what ever it takes to live it and make it a reality. One year at college before USNA is only a minor set back, and I'm praying I don't have to do that.. but don't give up on it. O btw the "twe" for NROTC comes in a thin white envelope as well..

Indeed dreams are good things, usually essential for great achievement. Conversely, this allows for a gut check on what it is he really wants and optimal paths to defining and reaching those goals. USNA and SAs are terrific, even romantic notions and experiences, worthy of exceptional effort. But they are not ends of their own. They are simply trains to travel on. And there are many, varied trains, all ending up at the same station. Get on board and enjoy the view. Avoid wallowing too long when there are mountains to be climbed.

And remember, the odds, or at least the absolute numbers are in steep change and suggest that the difficulty of appointment escalates monumentally for repeaters. And that number has dropped dramatically over the past 4 admissions seasons in deference to diversity. Those stats are crystal clear, not encouraging for would-be repeaters, and sadly personalize the direction for appointments @ present. For now, those shrinking slots should de-mythologize the patronizing notion that the SAs "like" or prefer those who stick with it for multiple seasons. Their numbers simply fail to portray that as being accurate and informed. It's people who are victims on both ends of this policy and consequent proceedings.

What's the point? Go in the direction your brain tells you, and increasingly use what you've learned to guide your heart as well. And remember, Chuck Yeager never even went to college. And he had the "right stuff." So do you. Keep moving, one step @ a time, illumined by the Lamp of your life.

Every day I hold my breath for my son. Even though I trust if this is the right path for him, God's got it handled. But in my gut, I still don't want to see the TWE. It's his dream. He's worked so hard. I know all that apply have worked so hard. Wish they could take them all. What a military force we'd have! Good luck to all and keep the faith no matter the outcome.

Pennak - sorry to hear about TWE. I know words are appreciated, and know the helpless feeling of the TWE. Sadly history repeats itself and for many.."tis the season for TWE". Good Luck to your DS. Was TWE for MO NROTC or USNA?

Ulna. We are still waiting for mo nrotc. Website unchanged thanks for your kind words. A big disappointment to be sure. Ds got into every school he applied to including very selective ones. Life goes on.
