It seems like the whole process is very long and that I am a bit late for applying for nominations already. The deadline is mid october for all of my sources and I have to apply for all of them too. Am I already too late if my sources are accepting nominations at this time too?

You are not too late. Jus have them in by the deadline. Earlier is always better as you aren't rushed.

Mid-August to October 1st is plenty of time to get all of your packets ready - including LOR to the Senator/Congressman. Just stay steady and get something done each day and you will be good to go. Like Hoops said, all you need to do is get it in on time. No real advantage to getting MOC packets in early, other than not rushing.
