Just wondering if anybody knows how long it usually takes to update the candidate file with the transcript information. DS mailed his in on the 19th.

My DS' transcript was submitted by his school at the end of June. He gave it a couple of weeks, called school to confirm it had been sent, then called the CGO to confirm receipt. CGO told him it usually takes a few of weeks to update, but what do you know, later that day it was updated as "Received". Same thing with his ACT/SAT scores (they posted his April scores before his January scores, he called the CGO, they asked him to email a PDF of his scores, and then they updated them then and there, if that gives you an idea). Unfortunately, 1) being sure you've properly made the appropriate submission, 2) double checking with any third party that they did what they were supposed to do, e.g. candidate's guidance counsel has indeed sent the official transcript, 3) giving it a couple weeks, and 4) calling to confirm receipt at the CGO, has been the primary method of getting his status updated with the online application. He has a direct line to a junior officer at the CGO now, which is helpful. I have a feeling he'll be making the call again soon once he's confirmed with his BGO that his interview evaluation was sent in a few weeks prior. C'est la vie!

Unfortuantely, I have read too many stories here of candidates patiently waiting for something to be processed, only to learn that for months one of the parties (e.g., the high school guidance counselor, ACT/SAT companies, CGO, BGO, medical contractors, Concorde or DodMERB) mistakenly thought that it was waiting on something from the another, etc. all the while the benefits of applying early in a rolling admissions process slip through the hour glass. This is, of course, the nature of the beast, but still frustrating. I'd advise diligence, restraint, and finally cheerful, humble and mannerly inquiries by email to the regional admissions director or via telephone after a reasonable wait (a few weeks, depending on what it is). I would also note that while most other entities have been a bit of a pain, my DS says the CGO is always attentive, polite and responsive, which goes a long way for a kid who's busting his hump to get his application done.

One more thing: I have no inside knowledge here, but I'd be surprised if the CGO accepts transcripts mailed by the candidates themselves. My understanding is that they must be provided directly from the school. That might be a delay right there.

That might be part of the upcoming problem. DS picked them up at school and mailed them in directly. They are signed and have the school seal on them. Guess he will give them the week to update then call to verify receipt. The only other thing he has left is chasing after his math teacher to do the SOE. Interview, DoDMERB and everything else is complete.
