I'm currently a student at Embry Riddle in Daytona Beach Florida. I received a 3 year national Army ROTC scholarship for this school. I won t be able to finish my major because it is too expensive (flight costs). I wanted to transfer to a school with a wider array of majors and a great ROTC program. I believe my strengths to be in liberal arts and public affairs rather than engineering. I'm currently really interested in Virginia Tech, seeing that they have both a wide array of majors and a great ROTC program. Since my scholarship doesn't activate for another year, I wanted to know what my options are. TIA!

I'd go talk to somebody in your Cadre and then maybe make some inquiries with the school you wish to transfer to. I'm sure everything needs to be approved at Cadet Command and there's no telling how long that might take.

Please do not assume your AROTC scholarship is portable.

If you bring your "A" game and bust your butt you may have the opportunity to earn an upgrade ( if available) to a 3.5 or 4 yr scholarship saving you $$$ to put towards your flight time thus negating the necessity to transfer. Either way you need to have a conversation with your cadre. Good luck.

Either way, I'm looking to major in Liberal Arts and Public affairs. My main goal is to transfer out of the school, not look for another major, which i would have done already if I wanted to.

Not a simple process. The following is from Cadet Command Pamphlet 145-1 Rev: 11/6/2012 Page 39 of 187:

    c. For a transfer request to be considered by HQCC, the transfer must include the following documentation:
    • Cadet Command Form 131-R (CCF 131-R) from losing PMS
    • Memo from Cadet explaining the reason for the request if Cadet not available to sign CCF 131-R
    • Current transcripts
    • Difference in costs of losing and gaining schools (include FICE codes)
    • Memo or Concurrence from gaining PMS
    • New 104R from gaining PMS
    • Letter of acceptance from gaining University or College
    • Memo or Concurrence from gaining BDE

Thank you for the advice, but my main goal here would be to go a school where I can major in a liberal art. It's my strength and I believe I would be a better qualified cadet once I graduate. My main focus is just trying to transfer to VT so I start the track again.

Thanks you, I was looking for this information. Surely I understand it's not an easy process. But I'm extremely motivated to transfer. Thank you!

Glad to hear your motivated. Just keep in mind that all the motivation and desire in the world doesn't mean squat with this process, or any other one in the military as far as I can tell. Wish you the best of luck with it.

I'm willing to bet your not taking that scholarship with you, no matter where you go. But I'd recommend you ask your cadre soon. And if they say no, and you still want to be an Army Officer then you better move soon, so you can enroll in the program at your new school and start competing for a campus based scholarship. Let us know what your cadre tell you.

Will do, would the Human Resources Assistant (one of the Cadre) be a good place to start?
