Transferring Scholarships

Its worth noting that the information P-Flying17 gives is most likely correct she works at CC.

Question...
My son received, and accepted, his 4yr NROTC scholarship and was assigned to the NROTC unit at the University of Michigan but we are still waiting to hear if he is accepted at Michigan. Does anyone know...is it appropriate for him to contact the NROTC office at Michigan to see if they have any info on his acceptance to Michigan or if they can help get the ball rolling? Michigan was his second choice, University of Colorado Boulder was his first and he HAS been accepted to UC Boulder...not sure how best to advise him. Thanks, in advance, for any insight or suggestions! GO NAVY!

I thought CC stood for Cadet Command which was the Army's ROTC program?

The following information was posted by Ms Parker when she first began to post. Nice lady and very helpful.

No chance. Each ROTC program is separate and they don't compare lists of applicants or acceptances...before May 1st.

My daughter received AROTC & NROTC scholarships in December 2009 and accepted both. Then a month later (end of Jan 2010) received and accepted an AFROTC scholarship. A couple weeks later advised both the AROTC and the NROTC that she was releasing those scholarships. She could have kept all three until at least May 1st but (like most people) chose to help the process by releasing as early as possible the scholarships she knew she wasn't going to use.

My son is in a similar situation this year. My advice is to accept everything and to release scholarships AFTER you are certain of your options and what you want. Good Luck!

Very sound advice.

Thank you! I've been wondering what the heck CC was that everyone was referring to and wondering if I was missing something! Since neither of my sons applied for AROTC that explains why I'm not familiar with it.

Wow. I was a bit surprised when I checked the acronym list (http://www.serviceacademyforums.com/showthread.php?t=11568) and found only two definitions of "CC":

CC – Commander of the squadron
CC – Cadet Candidate at USMAPS (West Point Prep)

If I have been awarded a scholarship to one school, but am trying to transfer to another, will I jeopardize the scholarship awarded if I send the deposits to both schools?

Assuming that your ROTC scholarship is national and not issued/tied to the specific Det/Bat/Unit...no you won't jeopardize your ROTC scholarship. However, some colleges have bad attitudes about students depositing to multiple schools and you might jeopardize your acceptance at the college(s). It's rare....but supposedly happens occasionally.
